Pinocho era una de las películas que de niña me gustaban y confieso que en toda mi infancia pensé que era una producción orginal de Disney, hasta que crecí y me di cuenta de que la mayoría de esos cuentos de hadas de Disney eran adaptaciones de cuentos; en el caso de Pinocho, un cuento escrito por Carlo Collodi, dónde el mismo reflejaba algunas realidades vividas en Italia para el siglo XIX y que realmente es muy contradictorio con una crudeza verdadera sobre la vida real y todo esto ha sido redireccionado hoy por Guillermo del Toro.
Pinocho de Guillermo del Toro, nos traslada a Italia en la Gran Guerra, dónde Geppetto, un carpintero, y su hijo Carlos vivían felizmente hasta que un avión dejo caer una bomba en la Iglesia del Pueblo dónde se encontraba su hijo Carlos, este falllece, causando en Geppetto un dolor profundo cayendo en depresión y en alcoholismo. Diez años después cegado por la ira, Geppetto decide arrancar el noble roble que acomapañaba la tumba de su hijo y empieza a tallar un muñeco de madera; este roble en el habitat de Sebastian J Grillo, así que este ve la creación del muñeco y también cuando una criatura misteriosa le da vida a este muñeco, que tendrá el nombre de Pinocho.
Pinocchio was one of the movies that I liked as a child and I confess that throughout my childhood I thought it was an original Disney production, until I grew up and realized that most of those Disney fairy tales were adaptations of fairy tales; in the case of Pinocchio, a story written by Carlo Collodi, where he reflected some realities lived in Italy for the XIX century and that really is very contradictory with a real crudeness about real life and all this has been redirected today by Guillermo del Toro.
Pinocchio by Guillermo del Toro, takes us to Italy during the Great War, where Geppetto, a carpenter, and his son Carlos were living happily until an airplane dropped a bomb on the village church where his son Carlos was, this failed, causing Geppetto a deep pain falling into depression and alcoholism. Ten years later, blinded by anger, Geppetto decides to tear out the noble oak that accompanied the tomb of his son and begins to carve a wooden doll; this oak in the habitat of Sebastian J. Grillo, so he sees the creation of the doll and also when a mysterious creature gives life to this doll, which will have the name of Pinocchio.

Debo decir que esta propuesta esta reviviendo un poco la imagen de Netflix, y es que esta cadena de streaming fue quien por fin acepto la visión que Guillermo del Toro llebava 16 años desarrollando, leyeron bien, 16 años. Lo primero que tengo que decir, es que esta adaptación tiene una visión mucho más cruda y parecida al cuento original; mostrandonos las consecuencias de una Guerra y cómo funcionan algunos seres humanos, nos muestran relaciones de padres tóxicos o cómo algunas instituciones pueden ver netamente por sus intereses y no por las personas realmente.
La trama realmente es muy realista, para mi no es una película para niños y es que recordemos que la animación no es exclusiva para los niños, es una técnica más bien; la trama si puede llegar a ser para verla en familia pero debes explicar muchas cosas, porque principalmente habla sobre el valor de la muerte y del tiempo con los seres queridos, muestra lo peor de los seres humanos e incluso condiciones de abuso laboral.
I must say that this proposal is reviving a bit the image of Netflix, and this streaming network was the one who finally accepted the vision that Guillermo del Toro had been developing for 16 years, you read that right, 16 years. The first thing I have to say is that this adaptation has a much more raw and similar vision to the original story; showing us the consequences of a war and how some human beings work, they show us toxic parent relationships or how some institutions can see purely for their interests and not really for the people.
The plot is really very realistic, for me it is not a movie for children and remember that animation is not exclusively for children, it is a technique rather; the plot if it can become to see it in family but you must explain many things, because mainly talks about the value of death and time with loved ones, shows the worst of human beings and even conditions of labor abuse.

En esta trama, conocemos diversos personas que representan muchas emociones en la cinta, por un lado tenemos a Pinocho, que es un personaje que realmente es muy rebelde pero que es muy ingenuo y por esto al principio es muy facil de manipular; entonces vivimos su adaptación al mundo humano con él. Geppeto por otro lado, representa muchas cosas, porque al principio lo muestran como un padre amoroso, pero luego nos muestran como un intenso dolor puede cambiar a una persona, y se convierte en un señor realmente lleno de rabia y que muchas veces esa rabia explota con pinocho.
Por otro lado, uno de los personajes más queridos tiene que ser Sebastian J Grillo, un personaje que realmente funciona como conciencia de Pinocho, pero como siempre, termina siendo tan carismatico que se roba la pantalla. También tenemos al dueño del carnaval, que realmente fue uno de los personajes que muestra la avaricia y el egoísmo pero al mismo tiempo el idolatrismo.
In this plot, we meet several people who represent many emotions in the film, on the one hand we have Pinocchio, who is a character that is really very rebellious but is very naive and therefore at the beginning is very easy to manipulate; then we live his adaptation to the human world with him. Geppeto on the other hand, represents many things, because at the beginning they show him as a loving father, but then they show us how an intense pain can change a person, and he becomes a man really full of rage and many times that rage explodes with Pinocchio.
On the other hand, one of the most beloved characters has to be Sebastian J Grillo, a character that really works as Pinocchio's conscience, but as always, he ends up being so charismatic that he steals the screen. We also have the owner of the carnival, who really was one of the characters that shows greed and selfishness but at the same time idolatry.

Ahora bien, la puesta en escena de esta película es HERMOSA, la técnica utilizada fue el stop motion, y toda la artesanía puesta en escena fue realizada a mano... El trabajo es bellísimo, incluso pudiera decir que en algunas partes de la cinta lloras con los acontecimientos y también por cómo se transmiten en escena; simplemente perfecto.
Pinocho de Guillermo del Toro, es una película cruda y hermosa, que nos enseña el valor del tiempo y de la vida; que en algún punto hay perdidas que nos marcan y que el crecer implica acomplarse a esa idea; el final es uno adecuado pero que al mismo tiempo duele mucho... Esta se va a convertir en una de mis versiones favoritas de Pinocho, les recomiendo ir a verla sin aún no han tenido la oportunidad de disfrutarla y veamos si gana esa nominación al Oscar, sinceramente lo merece.
Now, the staging of this film is BEAUTIFUL, the technique used was stop motion, and all the craftsmanship staged was done by hand... The work is beautiful, I could even say that in some parts of the film you cry with the events and also for how they are transmitted in scene; simply perfect.
Pinocchio by Guillermo del Toro, is a raw and beautiful film, that teaches us the value of time and life; that at some point there are losses that mark us and that growing up implies adapting to that idea; the ending is an adequate one but at the same time it hurts a lot... This is going to become one of my favorite versions of Pinocchio, I recommend you to go see it if you haven't had the opportunity to enjoy it yet and let's see if it wins that Oscar nomination, it sincerely deserves it.
