What I have to say about Malignant
With the scoop that director James Wan commented that for this production he wanted to make a movie like the ones he rented at the Video Club when he was young. I imagine those "B" movies and slashers from the 70's and 80's, some Italian "Giallo" films that often featured over the top acting, gore and low budget, with special effects that often looked fake. There were movies that we would rent without even seeing a trailer, just by the cover. There were zombies, mosquitoes, spirits, serial killers, there was everything. I must say that, for me, with a very broad and complex language, he did a great job of it.

This film starts with a scene that reminds you of those low budget movies, and you think what is this thing? And you think you're going to waste your time, but then within a few minutes it surprises you with a violent sequence that encourages you to keep going. The story picks up pace quickly and introduces you to an evil entity that can look like many things you've seen before and yet look like nothing at all. I spent much of the tape trying to figure out what this thing was, why did it seem to have its hands upside down, why does it move like that, then they explain it to you, and I think it's great how they justify it. This isn't Megan's head turn in The Exorcist that's there because it looks terrifying, nor is Samara's movements in The Ring that are there for the same reason.

The story progresses and James gives us some shots and sequences that are wonderful. The deaths are very well handled, This entity is evil, strong, cruel and ruthless, he takes over the story, he is the movie. The mystery and intrigue make you theorize the whole film.
La Trama avanza y James nos da unos planos y unas secuencias que son una maravilla. Por ejemplo, hay un pequeño plano secuencia de persecución que recorre toda una casa donde la cámara está viendo desde arriba hacia abajo, y va subiendo escaleras, abriendo y cerrando puertas que me ha parecido genial. Toda la secuencia de la comisaria (de mis favoritas) te hace dudar de que género es la película que estás viendo. Las muertes están muy bien llevadas, Este ente es malo, fuerte, cruel y despiadado, se adueña de la historia, él es la película. El misterio y la intriga te hacen teorizar toda la cinta.
From the music I can highlight the theme "Where Is My Mind" (Pixies) used in "Fight Club" which is a reference for those who understand what it's about. In conclusion, this is not just another horror movie, and that is why, despite its flaws, some script holes, a couple of unanswered questions, I liked it a lot and it entertained me, which in the end is what you are looking for, something new to make you enjoy and have a good time.
De la música puedo destacar el tema “Where Is My Mind” (Pixies) mismo usado en “Fight Club” que es toda una referencia para los que entiende de que va.
En conclusión, esta no es otra película más de terror, y es por eso que, a pesar de sus fallas, de algún agujero de guion, de un par de preguntas que no tienen respuesta me ha gustado mucho y me ha entretenido, que al final es lo que se busca, entretenerse con algo nuevo que te hagas disfrutar y pasa un buen momento.
