Made in Italy (2020) / Film Review

"Made in Italy" begins with the dilemma that Jack, played by Michael Richardson, has when his divorcing wife announces that her family is selling the art gallery he has been running for some time. A job to which Jack has dedicated a lot of time and feels that it is his only passion so he decides to find a way to buy the gallery. He contacts Robert (Liam Neeson), his father, from whom he has been estranged in recent years, to ask him to sell the family home they have in Tuscany, Italy.


So both characters make the trip to Italy to find a real estate agent to help them with the sale. However, when Jack arrives at the property, he realizes that his father had it in complete abandonment, and thus perhaps the possibility of obtaining the money to buy the gallery vanishes.

"Made in Italy" empieza con el dilema que tiene Jack, interpretado por Micheál Richardson, cuando su esposa de la cual se está divorciando le anuncia que su familia venderá la galería de arte que él ha dirigido en el último tiempo. Un trabajo a el cual Jack ha dedicado mucho tiempo y siente que es su única pasión así que decide buscar la forma de poder comprar la galería, por eso contacta a Robert (Liam Neeson), su padre, del cual ha estado distanciado en los últimos años, para pedirle vender la casa familiar que tienen en la Toscana, Italia.

Es así que ambos personajes realizan el viaje hacia Italia para buscar un agente inmobiliario que les ayude con la venta. Sin embargo al llegar a la propiedad Jack se da cuenta que su padre la tenía en completo abandono, desvaneciéndose así tal vez la posibilidad de obtener el dinero para comprar la galería.

Jack and Robert, despite being father and son, seem to have nothing in common, nothing to talk about, nothing to share, but it is the magic of this little Italian town and its inhabitants who play an important role, since the love for the family and its customs of sharing every moment with music, laughter, and good food is so ingrained that it is inevitable that both father and son begin to heal the differences that separate them, an immense abyss that was generated when Jack's mother died.

Jack y Robert, a pesar de ser padre e hijos parecieran que no tienen nada en común, nada de qué hablar, nada que compartir, pero es la magia de este pueblito italiano y sus habitantes quienes juegan un papel importante ya que es tan arraigado el amor por la familia y sus costumbres de celebrar compartir todo momento con música, risas y buena comida, que es inevitable que tanto padre e hijo comiencen a sanar sus diferencias que los separan, un abismo inmenso que se generó al morir la madre de Jack.

Throughout this adventure, there are beautiful characters like Natalia and Kate, who will help these men overcome their grief, find meaning in life, dare to rebuild their path, and forgive each other's absence in such painful moments as losing an important person in their lives.

En toda esta aventura, hay personajes hermosos como Natalia y Kate, que ayudarán a que estos hombres superen su duelo, encuentren un sentido a la vida, tengan valor para rehacer su camino y se perdonen mutuamente la ausencia en momentos tan dolorosos como lo es perder a una persona importante en sus vidas.

"Made in Italy" is a film that makes you reflect on the things that matter. About friendship, about overcoming internal processes that allow you to take a path away from the sadness and depression that can cause the death of a loved one. It is human and necessary to mourn, remember and move forward honoring his memory and the beautiful things he left us while living with that special person.

"Made in Italy", es una película que te hace reflexionar sobre las cosas que verdaderamente importan. Sobre la amistad, sobre superar procesos internos que te permitan emprender un camino lejos de la tristeza y la depresión que puede causar la muerte de un ser amado. Es humano y necesario llorarlo, recordarlo, pero debemos seguir adelante honrando su recuerdo y las cosas hermosas que nos dejó mientras convivimos con esa persona especial.

A curiosity that I must comment on this film, is that beyond the fact that the actors play their roles impeccably, is that Liam Neeson and Micheál Richardson, are father and son in real life, so many emotional scenes will make you cry, as they went through the sudden loss of Natasha Richardson, wife of Liam and mother of Micheál and in this film is printed the void that this event caused in their respective lives.

Una curiosidad que debo comentar de esta película, es que más allá que los actores interpretan sus papeles de forma impecable, es que Liam Neeson y Micheál Richardson, son padre e hijo en la vida real, así que hay muchas escenas emotivas que te harán llorar, ya que ellos pasaron por la pérdida repentina de Natasha Richardson, esposa de Liam y madre de Micheál y en esta película queda impreso el vacío que este evento causó en sus respectivas vidas.

From this movie, I take a very big lesson: "If our path is a little longer from those we love, we must try to continue and be happy despite their absence and enjoy the company and the beautiful things that those who are still with us give us"

De esta película me llevo una lección muy grande: "Si nuestro camino es un poco más largo de aquellos seres que amamos, debemos tratar de seguir y ser felices a pesar de su ausencia y disfrutar de la compañía y las cosas hermosas que nos brindan aquellos que aún permanecen con nosotros"
