Hey Murder Movie Jessies

Sorry about the technical glitch I guess my trigger finger is on high alert and for those of you who were patiently waiting, we now return to your scheduled programming. So you favourite reviewer on the blockchain is back and this time I checked out a movie with an extremely long title and its all about America's favourite serial killer, Ted Bundy.

So with a title that looks like a Yelp review of a restaurant that doesn't specifically cater to vegans, what can we really expect? Well let's dive in and see, shall we?

What is Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile about?

The chronicle of the crimes of Ted Bundy but this time it's taken from the perspective of his longtime girlfriend, who refused to believe the truth about him for years. Once a courtroom frenzy ensues and sweeps 1970s America this young single mother reluctantly has to come to terms with the monster he really was.

What did I think of Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile?

The case of Ted came with more than a few twists and turns and while I do think its better suited to a TV series a movie had plenty to work with which I felt was left out. Like the shocking revaltion that Ted Bundy had a plea bargain for only life in prison with no death penalty. He refused it at the last minute and sealed his own fate.

This movie had such potential but failed to fulfil any of it. The main issue is that the movie lacked a clear focus, sometimes its a love story, then it's a courtroom, then its a romantic comedy and you never feel the immense loss he caused and the impact on the families nor the fear of the co-eds from the various towns he "worked" in.

Very poorly executed which is a shame with such a wealth of material to choose from and a cast ready to execute.

I guess comes down to a poor screenplay. If you really want a better idea of who this man was, I suggest you check out the Ted Bundy tapes instead.

The acting is really above par with Zacs performance the stand out which is kind of defeating the purpose of a movie told from the perspective of the outsider, he clearly steals the show. The settings, the costumes and the detail were taken in what is presented on screen is admirable but the actual story depicted is nothing riveting.

In fact, the movie goes as far to paint Bundy as a wrongfully accused Steven Avery type instead of the psycho he really was, not showing his bi-polar or DID sides of his personality but just a charming smart young man who got himself court up in a media frenzy.

The movie focuses on an unusual seduction ability thanks to a charismatic eloquence and an extraordinary IQ, and then two women who loved him, Liz Kendall and Carole Anne Boone, you would think its a love story.

This really gets to me when you selling me a story about a mass murderer and with such a suggestive title. I'm not saying I want to see the blood and gore but I'd like to see them actually show him for what made him a household name.

I would have actually called this movie Extremely timid, Shockingly average and boring and I'd give this movie 5 chipped teeth out of 10

    It certainly wasn't as good as it could have been. When a movie like this with these lower qualities comes out, I assume it's too deliver some brainwashing propaganda. Re-watch it again with that in mind and it might make more sense why it went the direction it did right after the other Bundy thing was released.
