Hey J's and Movie fans
Since I've had some free time just to sit around and do a bit of nothing I've had the chance to check out a few movies I've meant to see and Highwaymen had to be one of them. Anything that has Woody Harrelson as a detective would have my attention after seeing the first season of True Detective.
We all know the story of Bonnie and Clyde and how it has been glamorised from their point of view, but this biopic takes a look at the story from the side of the law.

What is Highwaymen about?
A pair of Texas Rangers come out of retirement to catch the infamous outlaws Bonnie and Clyde. In attempting to recast a story of the gunslinging couple that has become ingrained in pop culture as couple goals Highwaymen takes its liberties with history.

What I thought of Highwaymen
The movie that takes place in the 30s it was indeed well done and very well thought out. This movie created the mystery of Bonnie and Clyde and the drama and havoc the created throughout the south.
Two aged, recommissionedTexas Rangers take on Bonny and Clyde and hunt them, in the end, using same tactics that B&C used to kill lawmen to try and capture them. The tempo starts slow but builds up gradually until the climax and a good payoff.
Kevin Costner was a great choice for Haymer! Harrelson was perfect as his partner. The screen chemistry of Costner and Harrelson works like magic, and their banter won't let you feel that you are watching a hunting party involving some deep criminals.
The director Mr Hancock achieves that masterfully and gives you get a clear idea of what they are facing while dealing with such ruthless criminals. I won't include any spoilers, but some intense moments will keep you on the edges of your seats!
My rating for Highwaymen
The actors, the cinematography, the costumes, the cars, the atmosphere of the post-1929 Great Depression, the rhythm, the dialogues all help set the tone.
The movie does a great job of transporting the viewer into the setting of the times. This is an excellent movie, and Netflix got it right this time.
I would give it an 8 Lawmen out of 10
Have your say
Have you seen Highwaymen? What did you think of the movie?
Holla at me in the comments! All my commenters I will now refer to as Jessie. Jessie is a good friend of mine, but Jessies got a girl, and I want to make her mine.
So have at it my Jessies! If you don't have something to comment, comment "I am a Jessie."
