If you're a lover of fast paced action movies them you'll probably love this one. At first I was adamant, yeah I'm sure you'll be like "yeah, he says that a lot". But for real, I was when I saw the name ambulance, I didn't see any trailer so I didn't know what to expect.
It was just a normal boring day when I decided to spice it up with some movies so I couldn't hold myself anymore but to ask from my one friend who painstakingly keep tabs of movies that are going to be released and goes on to download them immediately they do actually reach out part of the world.
So I got a ton of movies from him, one was which was the series Euphoria ( which I certainly need to review soon) and of course this movie I'm going to be telling you all a thing or two about. Let me warn you, if you're used to the 007 James Bond kinda action, you might not like this one. Haha, I'm just kidding.
About
Ambulance is a movie directed and produced by Michael Bay. The movie is an action paced triller that was co-produced by Bay films, New republic pictures and Project X. I was surprised to find out that it was based off another movie by Laurits Munch Peterson and Lars Andreas Pedersen, released around 2005 with the same name. But, the stories aren't exactly the same with the introduction of quite a little changes.
The movie was released on April 8, 2022 in the US ,with some months added in my part of the world, hehe. It runs for 136minutes and it stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Eiza González.
The movie like every other, receive a lot of reviews from critics with majority being positive. But, there were some strong criticism with the way the story played out, I guess it wasn't what majority of the people were expecting. To make things less rossy, the movie actually fell below their expecting after releasing but then Micheal Bay received a lot of accolades for actually going beyond a lot of people's expectations.
My own opinion about the movie
This was a story of love, hope, betrayal and self discovery. It had a lot of things in one, and it just places you in a very difficult position. It tells the story of a war veteran who in a bid to pay for his wife's surgery, has to go through a lot of unexpected events that would surely change his life forever.
How would you feel when your loved one is hurt and there's actually no way for you to save them except doing something that would end up hurting another person or persons. It was a hard decision to make and I loved what the director did, he actually placed us in a position where we were all itching to know how it'll all end.
What I loved the most was what he did with Jake Gyllenhaal, he had this fine boy bad boy aura who was very sarcastic and at the same time psychotic. Like some his responses in the movie actually made me laugh. He played the role quite well and there was no way to directly play him as the antagonist even if he kind of played the villian.
Then, Eiza González, killed it also with her hot girl who didn't give a fuck role. She ended up discovering a part of her that had been buried inside her for a while. She felt pity, compassion and a desperate feeling to help someone in need. Everything changed for her when her ambulance became highjacked by some killer robbers, yeah I've given too much detail, lol, you should go see the movie.
Overall I'll say it was a good movie, not the best though. There were scenes I thought was quite unnecessary, some characters who didn't just do it for me and cop chase wasn't as heart racing as I wanted it to be, lol, I love my heart racing really fast. But they certainly did take us by surprise and I'll give it a 7 out of 10 and would certainly recommend you to go see it too.
Thank you for reading this, if you enjoyed it or it connected to you in a way, I invite you to drop a comment I'll be glad to reply❤️
