Biopics are a genre of cinema that has become much more relevant in the last few years with some good successes, although I've never been too interested in them, I think there is that no human life is drama all the time and having a movie time forces you to fill much of that time with conflict and situations that may not be realistic all the time, however I think with Oppenheimer I wanted to make an exception. .
I don't know if it was because of the whole Barbenheimer thing (I saw Barbie a couple of days ago and I want to do a post about it too) but Oppenheimer struck me as a film that I was willing to wait at least until the dust settled and I could lock myself in my room to watch it and draw my own conclusions.
I have always loved historical films, of moments where it seems that humanity sees a before and after, to see the simple decisions behind the greatest projects ever seen, in that case I think it was brilliant to make a film about Robert Oppenheimer, the one many like as the father of the atomic bomb that tipped the balance of war in the US favour and consequently changed the whole world in the process.
It is a film that goes from young Robert's early stages as a student, through his entire stay in the States to later leading the project behind the atom bomb, along with all the moral dilemmas involved, the film has a key focus on the wear and tear of the protagonist in the face of all the possible alternatives unleashed by these new weapons, along with a whole framework that wants to make him look bad in the public eye.
From the beginning it gave me that vibe to another historical film I love: The Imitation Game, which also follows a genius behind an idea to give the war advantage to the allies and later generate some moral questions about the use or disuse, also there is a similarity with this film in the two brilliant performances that have their stars, in this case Robert Oppenheimer is portrayed in a tragic and realistic way, also his wife has a pretty decent role during the whole film.
Every scene with Oppenheimer's version of Murphy is a delight, not just him but the whole cast of incredibly well known actors who I'm sure fought to be able to work with Nolan even for just a couple of scenes, Robert Downey Jr as the government agent is something I didn't know I was going to appreciate so much, a solid performance too from him who has always been a renowned actor and well suited to much more serious roles outside of the whole superhero genre he triumphed in.
It is a very careful film, there are moments that I would have loved to see in the cinema or even with a better sound system, the moments where the atomic bomb is tested for the first time are those that mark the whole film and where the film wants to make the focus that there is a before and after for humanity, it has no waste the 3 hours that lasts although it can be hard to see for the issues it deals with.

Los biopics son un genero del cine que ha agarrado mucha mas relevancia en los ultimos años con algunos buenos exitos, aunque nunca me han interesado demasiado, creo que hay que ninguna vida humana es drama todo el tiempo y el hecho de tener un tiempo de cine te obliga a llenar gran parte de ese tiempo con conflicto y situaciones que pueden no ser realistas todo el tiempo, sin embargo creo que con Oppenheimer queria hacer una excepcion.
No se si fue por todo el tema y furor que tuvo el Barbenheimer (me vi Barbie hace un par de dias y tambien quiero hacer un post al respecto) pero Oppenheimer me ha parecido una pelicula que estaba dispuesto a esperar al menos hasta que las aguas se calmasen y pudiese encerrarme en mi habitacion a verla y sacar mis propias conclusiones.
Siempre me han gustado las peliculas historicas, de momentos en donde parece que la humanidad ve un antes y un despues, ver las decisiones sencillas detras de los mas grandes proyectos que jamas se han visto, en ese caso creo que ha sido brillante hacer una pelicula sobre Robert Oppenheimer, el que muchos como el padre de la bomba atomica que inclino la balanza de la guerra a favor de EE.UU y consecuentemente cambio el mundo entero en el proceso.
Es una pelicula que recorre desde las etapas tempranas de estudiante del joven Robert, pasando por toda su estadia en los Estados para despues liderar el proyecto detras de la bomba atomica, junto con todos los dilemas morales que conlleva, la pelicula tiene un enfoque clave en el desgaste del protagonista frente a todas las posibles alternativas que desatan estas nuevas armas, junto todo un entramado que lo quiere hacer ver mal frente al ojo publico.
Desde el comienzo me dio esa vibra a otra pelicula historica que me encanta: El juego de la Imitacion, que tambien sigue a un genio detras de una idea para darle la ventaja en la guerra a los aliados y que mas adelante generar algunas dudas morales sobre el uso o desuso, tambien hay una semejanza con este pelicula en las dos actuaciones brillantes que tienen sus estelares, en este caso Robert Oppenheimer es retratado de una forma tragica y realista, tambien su esposa tiene un papel bastante decente durante toda la pelicula.
Cada escena con la version de Murphy de Oppenheimer es un deleite, no solo el sino todo el elenco de actores increiblemente conocidos y que estoy seguro se pelearon para poder trabajar con Nolan aunque sea por solo un par de escenas, Robert Downey Jr como el agente del gobierno es algo que no sabia que iba a apreciar tanto, una solida actuacion tambien de el que siempre ha sido un actor de renombre y con buena capacidad para papeles mucho mas serios afuera de todo el genero de superheroes en el que triunfo.
Es una pelicula muy cuidada, hay momentos que me hubiese encantado ver en el cinema o aunque sea con un mejor equipo de sonido, los momentos en donde se prueba por prímera vez la bomba atomica son de esos que marcan toda la pelicula y en donde el film quiere hacer el foco de que hay un antes y un despues para la humanidad, no tiene desperdicio las 3 horas que dura aunque si que puede ser dura de ver por los temas que trata.
