The story of Vinland Saga begins 15 years earlier, when Viking commander Thors decides to defect from battle to live a peaceful life in Iceland alongside his wife Helga. Later, his son Thorfinn wants to know the paradise known as Vinland.
When Thors is summoned for yet another battle, the ancient warrior is trapped in a trap to pay for deserting so many years ago. When the plan is put into action, Thorfinn is taken hostage and his father ends up dead. Thorfinn is forced to join his captors. However, Thorfinn swears revenge on his father's behalf and constantly challenges his superiors to battle. Soon, Thorfinn and a group of mercenaries commanded by Askeladd will begin the legendary Danish invasion of London.
