Barbarian || Some movies are badly made and should be thrown in the recycling bin.

Review by @cute-cactus · 1382d · of Barbarian

The Barbarian, a 2022 movie that I started watching with the claim that it was one of the best horror movies in recent times, turned out to be, to put it bluntly, terrible.

Every movie has its audience and audience, so I don't like to make sharp sentences, but I won't close the zipper on my mouth for Barbarian!

The movie starts as a teen movie, ends as a zombie movie and the story is divided into 3 parts within the movie.

Two young people who rent the same house from an online house rental service and don't know about each other meet by chance in the house they rent and a good interaction starts between them.

This is the first part of the story. Then they realize that there is a tunnel like a mine entrance under the house they rented and the second part begins.

After the terrifying moments in the tunnel, the third part of the story begins and new people come home.

Sorry for the spoilers, but I have to in order to show how pointless and absurd the movie is. A man and a woman have been living in the tunnel under the house for years. As I understand it, the man kidnapped the woman and tried to have a child with her. The story is so incomplete and blurred that you can't really understand why the people in the tunnel are there and how they relate to the people in the house.

Every part of the movie is as if it is tied together with a thread that can be broken at any moment, as if it is a thread that is not connected to each other.

Hardly anyone lives in that part of a big city. When the victim, who escaped from the house, tells the police, the police are not interested in the case, they leave the scene with the excuse that they have somewhere else to be. I don't know how I managed to endure the movie through all the strangeness.

It was the worst movie I've seen in recent times, and I don't understand how and why it got a score as high as 7.6. Although I don't think it's appropriate to give stars or to rate productions such as movies and writings where personal efforts are displayed, I think the score it deserves should be very low. My personal preference would be 3/10.

In my opinion, don't bother with the movie, it is far from the horror movie genre and a complete waste of time. Fake editing, fake acting, pointless story!

I was looking for one sentence of positive action or visuals about the movie but unfortunately there are none. If the young people who coincidentally rented the same house and were victimized by the website had chatted with each other and completed the duration of the movie, it would have been a much better production.

So there can be really bad movies. If being in the dark and seeing a naked woman with long hair is something to be afraid of, then yes, the movie is horrible! ...but I'm sure no one would be afraid of that. If adding another scene on top of a scene without completing one of the scenes is a way to tie the story together, then yes, they put a cheat sheet.

It's the kind of production that can even turn off someone who watches movies regularly. Or if I'm wrong, it means that I set my expectations for the movie as high as space!

I agree. This felt like three different movies were spliced together and they weren't exactly sure which genre they wanted to settle on -- thriller, horror, comedy. They definitely succeeded with the gross-factor but it looked like the first part of the movie would've contained a better story if they opted for a simpler, less bizarre twist.

The trailer seems really scary but felt like something was missing from it, perhaps that is already a sign it's a movie to be avoided.
