U Turn || a film that is difficult to explain and easy to watch

Until I watched Marry Me, I thought U Turn was the best Jennifer Lopez film. When I watched Marry Me, my opinion changed, but when I watched U Turn again today, my opinion changed again and I decided that the best Jennifer Lopez film is U Turn. Sorry for the contradictions and change of opinion, but I am human and it is in the nature of people to have changes in thoughts.

Since this is not a trial and the contradiction in my thoughts is not a change of expression between the police station and the court, let's continue smoothly!

Plot of the film U Turn;

Bobby Cooper (played by Sean Penn) is a gambler with a dark past and is indebted to some bad circles. The people he owed money to cut off 2 fingers because he did not pay on time. While passing through a small town with a bag full of money to pay off his debt, his car breaks down and he has to stay in the town for a while. Grace McKenna (played by Jennifer Lopez) meets him in the town and thus the whole story of the film is developed.

My thoughts on the film;

Although I put Jennifer Lopez at the forefront of my thoughts about the film, we should not forget Sean Penn and Nick Nolte who accompany her. Sean Penn shows a successful acting performance in the character of Bobby, who is skilful in attracting trouble. As you watch what happens to Bobby, you think that it can't get any worse than this, but it does, and Bobby faces the worst of the worst every time.

Another positive effect that the film offers to the audience is that it is able to conceal the flow of events until the last moment and what will happen next is unpredictable.

For example, Grace kills her husband with Bobby and takes his money. They make love next to his corpse and at that time, when I thought, okay, the film was over, it was moving towards a new end in a new flow and flow.

After what happens between them and the sheriff who stops them on the road, I say the film is over here, but it doesn't end again and turns into a feud between the lead duo. The taste of the film U Turn is really great and I have no hesitation in recommending it as watchable.

There is a big difference between Jennifer Lopez's performance and friendly behaviour in Marry Me and Jennifer Lopez's puzzle-like mystery and fiery appearance in U Turn. I am aware of the hesitations about how accurate this comparison will be, both films have very different subjects and dates, but I want to make the comparison from my own point of view and in terms of determining my preference. And I realise that my admiration for Jennifer Lopez in U Turn is more advanced when I watch both films.

The 25 years between 1997 and 2022 do not seem to have taken much from Jennifer Lopez's physique and beauty. In the 1997 film, her portrayal of a character who is sexier and loves love games adds colour to the film and can reflect the passion on the screen while watching. In the film Marry Me in 2022, it offered a visual feast as the processing of events and weaves was completely show-based.

What I can clearly see in the film U Turn is that there are strange events in a strange town. Strange events provide the film's fluent scenes and dialogues to integrate with the story of the film. After a point, the film becomes such a state that it is difficult to explain and easy to watch. Although love and hate are two opposite emotions, they are experienced at the same time and these two opposite emotions prepare the surprise ending of the film.
