Vikingulven

Review by @cute-cactus · 1339d · of Viking Wolf

Turning to the wolf lying on the table and under the influence of drugs; The female figure saying "don't worry baby, your mother is with you" may sound quite strange, but let's rewind the story first.

As someone who has seen enough zombie movies, it is my natural right to look for different genres. Vampires, ghosts, wolves or aliens; my searches, which I started with the thought that I would watch anything, led me to the Norwegian movie Vikingulven, made in Norway in 2021.

Don't worry, I won't give spoilers like most of the time, nor will I overwhelm you with extra; irrelevant information for the viewer, such as the director, the actors, the awards the movie has received, because anyone can find plenty of them on google.

For some reason, I often look for reality in movies that are fictionalized on real life, so I inevitably question many scenes or information.

It's like why a creature that was released a thousand years ago appears a thousand years later; where was it for a thousand years, what did it eat, what did it drink, did it sleep? Why didn't he do what he does today a thousand years ago? Blah, blah, blah!

  • Sharpness of gaze!

  • Hypersensitivity to sounds!

  • Claws starting to appear!

  • A face that begins to resemble carnivore!

No problem, we just become werewolves or werewomen! Anyway, as someone who is tired of zombies, I liked the movie Vikingulven, but most of all I liked the natural and scary beauty of Norway. Don't mind me saying scary, maybe I say scary because I saw it in a horror movie.

Even after watching the movie, I am still a thousand years ago. What happened to the creature unleashed by the Vikings for a thousand years? Of course, I am not asking fiction to account for the lost millennia, but as I said; I expect more reality in fictions built on real life.

Elli Rhiannon Müller Osborne as Thale Berg was both beautiful and sad to watch. The sad part was that someone of her beauty had an animalistic face and evolved into a weak and scrawny creature.

I think I've broken my promise not to give spoilers here, but this little bit of information won't spoil your viewing pleasure because there are so many good things to watch in the movie.

The biggest criticism you can make is that a weak family model single-handedly takes all the responsibility for experiencing and perpetuating fear throughout the movie. They could have drawn a stronger family model and made the movie more watchable.

Don't conclude from the review that the movie is bad, I think it was a fun production worth spending an hour and a half on. Netflix has been making a lot of these kinds of movies lately and some of them are right on the money.
