RMS Virginian es el nombre del buque en el cuál, uno de los carboneros llamada Danny Buckman quién, luego de investigar un poco los salones de fiesta en busca de joyas (una vez todos los pasajeros bajaron del buque) se encuentra con un bebé sobre un piano.

Danny Buckman decide adoptar al niño, se propone llamarlo junto con la ayuda de sus compañeros a bordo: Danny Boodmann T.D. Lemon Novecento, ya que lo encontró en una caja de limones el primer día, del primer mes del siglo XX.

A partir de éste momento la historia de nuestro protagonista es narrada por Max Conn Tooney, quién conoció a Novecento en el RMS Virginia luego de pedir trabajo en el buque como músico (tocando la trompeta) y termina siendo carbonero junto a Novecento.
Novecento quizás no nació en el buque, pero si creció y se crió únicamente dentro de él, sin pisar un sólo día Tierra, todo lo que conoce a su alrededor es el mar. De pequeño, mientras en el gran salón se festejaba, el niño decide subir desde las carboneras hacía el gran salón tan sólo para mirar con detenimiento al pianista que impartía música en ese momento. Horas más tarde, mientras ya no quedaba nadie en el lugar, el sonido de la melodía del piano despierta a toda la tripulación, tanto pasajeros como al capitán, quiénes, al acercarse al lugar de dónde provenía el sonido, se encontraron con el pequeño Novecento, tocando una melodía sin igual.
From this moment the story of our protagonist is narrated by Max Conn Tooney, who met Novecento on the RMS Virginia after asking for a job on the ship as a musician (playing the trumpet) and ends up being a coalman with Novecento.
Novecento may not have been born on the ship, but he grew up only inside it, without ever setting foot on Earth, and all he knows around him is the sea. When he was a child, while the great hall was celebrating, the boy decided to go up from the coal bunkers to the great hall just to look carefully at the pianist who was playing music at that moment. Hours later, while no one was left, the sound of the piano melody awakened the entire crew, both passengers and the captain, who, as they approached the place where the sound was coming from, met little Novecento, playing an unparalleled melody.
Novecento creció y terminó siendo un incomparable en el piano, era una leyenda que retumbaba alrededor del mundo sin haber pisado ni una sola vez Tierra. Para cada persona o situación había una pieza clave que debía ser tocada, las personas emanaban la música que luego tocaría Danny Lemon en el piano. Trabajaba junto con su mejor amigo Max en las carboneras y, al mismo tiempo, ambos tocaban junto a la banda del barco.
A lo largo de la historia, mientras Novecento va consiguiendo fama y se convierte en el mejor pianista jamás escuchado, tendremos como personaje destacable a Jelly Roll Morton el inventor del Jazz, quién lo reta a una competencia para medir quién es el mejor pianista de los tiempos. Tras una aplastante victoria, Novecento decide grabar con ayuda de la influencia de su mejor amigo Max su único disco.

After an overwhelming victory, Novecento decides to record his only album with the help of his best friend Max.
Disco que durante su rodaje fue inspirado en la aparición de una chica, que pasea sin saber que es observada desde un cuarto de piano por Novecento y, cómo ya te había mencionado, sus melodías salen al azar luego de observar a una persona, cómo si de tener la habilidad de escuchar la música que cada quién emana de sí mismo. Pero luego de haber culminado la grabación, Novecento se decide por destruir el disco.
This album was inspired by the appearance of a girl who walks around unaware that she is being watched from a piano room by Novecento and, as I mentioned, her melodies come out at random after observing a person, as if she had the ability to listen to the music that each person emanates from himself. But after the recording is finished, Novecento decides to destroy the album.
Empezamos a conocer la historia de vida de Novecento luego de que Max decide desembarcar despidiéndose de su amigo quizás para siempre y, nos lo conseguimos unos años después visitando una tienda de música para vender su trompeta, luego de pedirle al dueño de la tienda el poder tocar una última vez su trompeta, éste lo sorprende preguntándole de dónde había conocido aquella melodía. Max comienza relatando su historia del pianista que jamás existió hasta que el dueño de la tienda reproduce el disco que se suponía Novecento había destruido hacía años atrás.
Luego de indagar de dónde había conseguido aquel disco, el dueño aclara que fue traído en un piano que fue perteneciente al RMS Virginia, el cuál será destruido en pocos días. Aquí es cuando Max entra en completo pánico, ya que conociendo a su amigo sabe con total certeza que él aún se encuentra en el buque y decide ir hasta el lugar para evitar la destrucción del mismo, intentando salvar la vida de su amigo, buscando la manera de lograr que pise tierra por primera vez en toda su vida.
We began to know the history of Novecento's life after Max decides to disembark saying goodbye to his friend perhaps forever and, we got it a few years later visiting a music store to sell his trumpet, after asking the owner of the store to be able to play his trumpet one last time, he surprises him asking him where he had known that tune. Here is when Max enters in complete panic, since knowing his friend he knows with total certainty that he is still in the ship and decides to go to the place to avoid the destruction of the same one, trying to save the life of his friend, looking for the way to obtain that it steps on earth for the first time in all its life.

— Nunca lo había visto. Fue como si me partiera un rayo, porque oí la voz.

— Si... ¡La voz del mar!

— La voz del mar es cómo un grito, un grito grande y fuerte, que chilla y chilla. Y lo que chillaba era: Tú... qué tienes nada por cerebro, la vida es inmensa ¿puedes comprenderlo? ¡Inmensa!. Nunca lo había visto de esa forma, una revolución estalló en mi cabeza y así fue como, de repente decidí cambiar mi vida y empezar de cero.

Para que conozcas la historia de Novecento te invito a verla y conocer así el final, he intentado en sobremanera no incluir Spoilers en ésta reseña. Siempre he sido una persona más de libros que de cine, pero creo que ésta ha sido una de las pocas películas que luego de haberla visto una vez, dan ganas de repetirla otras tantas veces. La escena que te cuento al final no es más que una conversación entre un pasajero y Novecento, que, en la sencillez de unas pocas palabras devela prácticamente el mensaje que a todos sin duda nos hace falta en ocasiones inciertas La vida es inmensa, ¿puedes comprenderlo? ¡Inmensa!
In order to know the history of Novecento I invite you to see it and to know the end, I have tried very hard not to include Spoilers in this review. I have always been more of a book person than a movie person, but I think this is one of the few movies that after having seen it once, makes me want to repeat it so many times. The scene I'm telling you at the end is nothing more than a conversation between a passenger and Novecento, which, in the simplicity of a few words reveals practically the message that we all undoubtedly need on uncertain occasions ? Life is immense, can you understand that? Immense!
