Caddyshack is one of the all time great comedies. Featruing the likes of Chevy Chase, Bill Murray, Rodney Dangerfield, and directed by the legendary Harold Ramis. The movie revolves around the trials and tribulations of a teenager working for some crazy characters at the Bushwood Country Club. The movie also follows the efforts of the groundskeeper( Bill Murray) to kill a rather clever groundhog.
Caddyshack's production was famously troubled by Hurricane David and the "recreational activities" of the cast and crew. Another thing not many know is that in the original script Chevy Chase and Bill Murray didn't share a single scene in the original script. When director Harold Ramis realized this is sat down to lunch with them both and wrote the scene where Ty Webb's ball crashes through the roof of Carl Spackler's shack. Bill Murray was also supposed to have little involvement in the film but his part grew through re-shoots.
Caddyshack really is just one of those classic comedies. I actually didn't see this one until I was 19, which is probably for the best, I don't know that I would have appreciated it when I was younger. There isn't really much I can say about the cinematography or the writing other than they just gel perfectly and make a very funny movie. The score is memorable, featuring 4 songs by Kenny Loggins and "Any Way You Want It" by Journey. It also includes the theme from Jaws. Caddyshack is just one of those movies you have to see to get. No amount of explanation can really capture how funny and infinitely quotable this movie is. If you haven't seen Caddyshack, see it and if you have re-watch it, you will not regret it.
