Throwback Thursday: Heavy Metal

Review by @darthnihilus · 3149d · of Heavy metal music

Let me start off by saying this movie can feel weird the first couple watches. The story follows an object of great power called the Loc-Nar on it's journey through time, space, and reality sowing havoc wherever it lands. When you watch this movie just keep that in mind, the real central character is the Loc-Nar. Heavy Metal features excellent hand drawn animation mixed with great rotoscoping and an awesome soundtrack. The movie is essentially a short story anthology like its namesake Heavy Metal Magazine. The movie features the voice talents of Harold Ramis, John Candy, Rodger Bumpass, and Eugene Levy to name a few.

I would have to say I enjoy the B-17 story and the saga of Den(featuring the voice of John Candy) the most out of the stories presented, though none are bad. The jumps between past, future, and alien cultures keep the movie fresh and interesting. There is not really a whole lot I can say other than watch it, it's one of those things you just need to see for yourself, until you experience it no amount of talking about it can prepare you. It's not for everyone but I enjoy it.

Thanks for reading and a big Thank You to my followers. Now what are you waiting for? Go watch it!
