This Spanish horror movie from Netflix is one I have been expecting to watch for the past few days ever since I read about it. In Spanish, the movie's name is "Voces" and when translating that word to English it would be "Voices". Nevertheless, for some reason, it is known as Don't Listen to English speaking countries.

The story is about a family that restores houses for a living. They have just moved to a new house which is a bit isolated since it is located in the countryside, and their plan is just to fix this old house and sell it for a profit. Since this is the countryside the house is big, it has a pool and a lot of free space surrounding the house with trees and grass.

Their only problem is that the kid begins to have behavioral issues since moving to this house. He isn't enjoying school and he seems to suffer from some type of disturbance. Things get creepy when he starts to claim he has been hearing voices that aren't friendly at all.

One thing to take into consideration is that this family wasn't from around this place. They just located a house with potential and moved there to continue with their business of improving houses. They didn't know anything about the houses' history or even the history of this region.

Shortly after the kid informs his parents that he has been hearing things, the tragedy will begin and the paranormal part of the story will kick in with full force. There are several horror scenes and twists but I would just consider this movie an above-average one. It is in no certain way a masterpiece but it is well worth the watch nonetheless.

This is a fine film for fans of the genre, there is no doubt about that, however, it will hardly be shocking or surprising for people who are used to seeing horror films. There is a nice twist, and all in all, it is a satisfactory horror flick.

There is another Spanish horror production, this one from HBO, which looks like it has the potential to become a masterpiece. It is a series and since I don't like to watch 1 episode per week I will have to wait until the season ends in January but it looks promising. It is called 30 Coins and the first episode was already released this past Sunday.
