The first thing to know about this series is that calling it a horror show might be far-fetched. It does explore stories that typically belong to the horror genre, but I don’t think they do it with the goal of scaring the viewers. This series doesn’t have scary scenes but what it does have are some scary-looking beings that appear from time to time and communicate with some of the characters.
At first, I was a bit disappointed because the series didn’t provide the horror that I was looking for, but as I continued to watch it, I started to appreciate its style and the way in which they approached the paranormal elements of the story. In the end, I was happy with the show but have in mind this is far from being a masterpiece.

The series is about a group of 3 characters, one of them is a priest, the other a psychologist with a very rational mind, and the other one is a tech geek who has all sorts of useful skills. They will work together to investigate different types of cases that could have a paranormal explanation, and then they share their views with the Catholic Church who is their employer.
Their main goal is to provide an accurate explanation or at least a reasonable hypothesis about each of the strange cases they are assigned. Each of the cases appears to be inexplicable and paranormal and it is their goal to find some sense among all of the craziness.
The type of cases they will encounter is pretty much every type of paranormal event you can think of. In one cool episode, there is an elevator game where people get supposedly trapped in hell. The people are really disappearing after they play this game and everything points to a paranormal explanation, that is until the team of investigators arrives to find the real answer.
In another cool episode, there is a medical device that stimulates the way in such a way that it causes very vivid hallucinations that mirror what could be considered spiritual experiences. There was also a case of UFOs and the typical behavior when people are uncovering an important conspiracy. Haunted dolls, satanism, cannibalism, and many other topics are explored in this season.
As the team explores these cases, there is also a backstory in development since season 1, and it consists in that evil itself is getting organized to slowly gain power in the world and advance its agenda. Each episode contains bits of information about this slow development and they are quite good at getting infiltrated in important institutions, as well as convincing people into doing their bidding.
Lo primero que se debe saber sobre esta serie es que considerarla como de terror podría ser descabellado. Explora historias que normalmente pertenecen al género de terror, pero no creo que lo hagan con el objetivo de asustar a los espectadores. Esta serie no tiene escenas de miedo pero lo que sí tiene son unos seres de aspecto aterrador que aparecen de vez en cuando y se comunican con algunos de los personajes.
Al principio, me decepcionó un poco porque la serie no proporcionaba el horror que estaba buscando, pero a medida que seguía viéndola, comencé a apreciar su estilo y la forma en que abordan a los elementos paranormales de la historia. Al final, me quede contento con el show, pero ten en cuenta que esto está lejos de ser una obra maestra.

Trabajarán juntos para investigar diferentes tipos de casos que podrían tener una explicación paranormal, y luego compartirán sus puntos de vista con la Iglesia Católica, que es su empleador.
Su principal objetivo es brindar una explicación precisa o al menos una hipótesis razonable sobre cada uno de los casos extraños que se les asignan. Cada uno de los casos parece ser inexplicable y paranormal y su objetivo es encontrar algún sentido entre toda la locura.
El tipo de casos que encontrarán es prácticamente todos los tipos de eventos paranormales que se puedan imaginar. En un episodio genial, hay un juego de ascensor en el que la gente supuestamente queda atrapada en el infierno. La gente realmente está desapareciendo después de jugar este juego y todo apunta a una explicación paranormal, eso es hasta que llega el equipo de investigadores para encontrar la respuesta real.
En otro episodio genial, hay un dispositivo médico que estimula el camino de tal manera que provoca alucinaciones muy vívidas que reflejan lo que podrían considerarse experiencias espirituales. También hubo un caso de ovnis y el comportamiento típico cuando las personas están descubriendo una conspiración importante. Muñecas embrujadas, satanismo, canibalismo y muchos otros temas se exploran en esta temporada.
A medida que el equipo explora estos casos, también hay una historia de fondo en desarrollo desde la temporada 1, y consiste en que el mal mismo se está organizando para lentamente ganar poder en el mundo y avanzar en su agenda. Cada episodio contiene algo de información sobre este lento desarrollo y son bastante buenos para infiltrarse en instituciones importantes, así como para convencer a la gente de que cumplan sus órdenes.

I hope season 3 focuses more on the fact evil is getting organized and less in these various cases, the team needs to investigate because otherwise, the series will become repetitive and potentially overmilked. We have already seen enough information about the magnitude of the plans of the evil people, and it would be interesting to see their first full-blown strike. The cases are interesting, but sometimes it feels like the plot isn't advancing.

The main director of the second season is Nelson McCormick who has enough experience directing suspenseful stories. He has worked in the series Prison Break, Lovecraft Country, Hunters, among many others.
The series has 3 main writers that have worked in all the episodes so far. Michelle King and Robert King specialize in series, and they have worked together every time since the last decade. Besides Evil, they have also worked as writers in the series The Good Fight, The Bite, Braindead, and The Good Wife.
The other writer is Nialla LeBouef and this is the first regular-length production of her career. Previously she worked in a short called The Restless and in a short documentary called Image Within an Image.
When it comes to the cast, there are 3 main members who play the lead roles. Katja Herbers plays the psychologist and she is also a mother of 4 girls. This actress has worked in many good series in the past, a few examples would be Westworld, The Leftovers, and Manhunt.
Mike Colter plays the priest and he is naturally the character who always look for a religious explanation for all the inexplicable cases they will encounter. He has worked in the series Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, The Defenders, and many others.
Finally, we have Aasif Mandvi. He plays the tech guy with all sorts of skills and knowledge. Just like the previous 2 members of the cast, Mandvi also works in series most of the time, some examples would be This Way Up, Blue Bloods, and A Series of Unfortunate Events.
Espero que la temporada 3 se centre más en el hecho de que el mal se está organizando y menos en estos diversos casos que el equipo necesita investigar porque de lo contrario, la serie se volverá repetitiva y potencialmente sobre explotada. Ya hemos visto suficiente información sobre la magnitud de los planes de la gente malvada, y sería interesante ver su primer gran golpe en toda regla. Los casos son interesantes, pero a veces parece que la trama de fondo no avanza.

How were the performance from the cast, the scenery and the writing?
I think the performance from the cast was acceptable and a bit better compared to the first season. This is especially the case with the main female actress. This time, I saw her in a much more spontaneous and authentic way whereas, in the first season, I didn’t buy many of her performances. Her character has also changed so maybe this helped.
The other 2 main characters are good in their roles as always, and the same can be said about the villain. Although, the character development of this villain during this season was a bit confusing, and his importance in the show appeared to have decreased.
I would like to say a special mention of the writers of the show because they really did a great job creating all sorts of interesting cases and their writing certainly made this season a worth watching one.
Thanks to the variety of the stories, there were all sorts of different settings explored and several of them were quite cool. Especially in the episode about the haunted elevator game that also has a cool story with a great twist.

Evil is a fun series that would probably be enjoyable for people who feel intrigued about the paranormal and all types of inexplicable events. I wouldn’t say this series is scary in the least even though they are constantly exploring topics that could easily be considered as horror fuel the majority of the time.
The series is far from perfect, but I believe it has improved a little bit compared to the first season, and the creativity and variety in the cases they explore is as good as always. I find it hard to find a series that can be compared to this one, maybe the X Files but both shows are extremely different in their tones and styles and it wouldn’t be a proper comparison, the only thing they have in common is that each episode explores a different mysterious case with a potentially paranormal explanation.
Project Blue Book, on the other hand, would be a more fitting comparison although that series only focuses on potentially extraterrestrial encounters and there aren't any religious undertones in the plot. But the approach of both series, Evil and Project Blue Book, when trying to find explanations for the paranormal, are similar thanks to the presence of rational characters who are always trying to find a scientifically-backed explanation for the unexplainable.
In short words, if you like the mystery genre and the paranormal as a whole, you should definitely give Evil a watch.

¿Cómo fue la actuación del elenco, la escenografía y la escritura?
Creo que la actuación del elenco fue aceptable y un poco mejor en comparación con la primera temporada. Este es especialmente el caso de la actriz principal. Esta vez, la vi de una manera mucho más espontánea y auténtica mientras que, en la primera temporada, no compré muchas de sus actuaciones. Su personaje también ha cambiado, así que tal vez esto ayudó.
Los otros 2 personajes principales son buenos en sus roles como siempre, y lo mismo se puede decir del villano. Aunque el desarrollo del personaje de este villano durante esta temporada fue un poco confuso y su importancia en el programa pareció haber disminuido.
Me gustaría hacer una mención especial a los escritores del programa porque realmente hicieron un gran trabajo creando todo tipo de casos interesantes y su escritura ciertamente hizo que esta temporada valiera la pena verla.
Gracias a la variedad de historias, se exploraron todo tipo de escenarios diferentes y varios de ellos fueron bastante interesantes. Especialmente en el episodio sobre el juego del ascensor embrujado que también tiene una historia genial con un gran giro.

Evil es una serie divertida que probablemente sería disfrutable para las personas que se sienten intrigadas por lo paranormal y todo tipo de eventos inexplicables. No diría que esta serie da miedo en lo más mínimo, a pesar de que están explorando constantemente temas que podrían considerarse fácilmente como combustible para el terror la mayor parte del tiempo.
La serie está lejos de ser perfecta, pero creo que ha mejorado un poco en comparación con la primera temporada, y la creatividad y variedad en los casos que exploran es tan buena como siempre. Me resulta difícil encontrar una serie que se pueda comparar con esta, tal vez Los expedientes secretos X, pero ambos programas son extremadamente diferentes en sus tonos y estilos y no sería una comparación adecuada, lo único que tienen en común es que cada episodio explora un caso misterioso diferente con una explicación potencialmente paranormal.
El Proyecto Libro Azul, por otro lado, sería una comparación más adecuada, aunque esa serie solo se enfoca en encuentros potencialmente extraterrestres y no hay matices religiosos en la trama. Pero el planteamiento de ambas series, Evil y Proyecto Libro Azul, a la hora de buscar explicaciones para lo paranormal, es similar gracias a la presencia de personajes racionales que siempre están tratando de encontrar una explicación respaldada científicamente para lo inexplicable.
En pocas palabras, si te gusta el género de misterio y lo paranormal en su conjunto, definitivamente deberías darle un vistazo a Evil.
