This series was originally planned as the story of just one robbery that was almost impossible to do. The chemistry between the actors was great, the characters were full of authenticity and charisma, and the intensity of the plot, coupled with excellent action scenes made this series in its first season something worth watching.
The main characters are all criminals, and their goal with this robbery was simply to become rich and retire in peace. However, after the series became an international hit, its creators started to screw over the story and instead of leaving its original ending alone, they decided to overmilk the series and create a new robbery. From this point on, I will share a few spoilers about the series, but none about the 5 episodes released at the beginning of December.
First, I need to say I really liked the first season. It was an ambitious and well-planned robbery, and the characters as I just said, were all perfectly written and acted. The problem with this series begins when in order to overmilk it, the creators of the show need to force some characters into making extremely irrational decisions after they risked their lives to become rich.
The series makes a big emphasis on how these characters developed a family-like relationship while committing and planning the robbery, and there is even a case of Stockholm syndrome with one victim character falling in love with one of the criminals. However, the true nature of these characters is that they are criminals and they are robbers, after their robbery succeeds, they should just go on with their lives and achieve their other dreams. Not in this series though.
Once the first robbery is completed and they all become rich, one of the younger members of the criminal gang gets caught by the police for doing a very silly mistake. He didn't take the proper protective measures in order to not get caught and he ended up paying the consequences. When the leader of the gang, the Professor, is informed about this, he eventually managed to convince the gang to do another even riskier robbery in order to blackmail the authorities into releasing their young and stupid gang-member who was imprisoned.
This is the irrational decision I mentioned before. It makes no sense for these criminals to once again, risk their lives where the only payoff is to rescue one of the most stupid squad members. They are no real family, and after the first robbery they were all living with no contact with each other. Not only that but there are a few characters that are even more irrational.

La química entre los actores era estupenda, los personajes estaban llenos de autenticidad y carisma, y la intensidad de la trama, unida a excelentes escenas de acción hicieron de esta serie en su primera temporada algo digno de ver.
Los protagonistas son todos criminales, y su objetivo con este robo era simplemente hacerse ricos y retirarse en paz. Sin embargo, después de que la serie se convirtiera en un éxito internacional, sus creadores empezaron a dañar la historia y en lugar de dejar su final original, decidieron sobre explotar la serie y crear un nuevo robo. A partir de aquí, compartiré algunos spoilers sobre la serie, pero ninguno sobre los 5 episodios estrenados a principios de diciembre.
En primer lugar, tengo que decir que me gustó mucho la primera temporada. Era un robo ambicioso y bien planificado, y los personajes como acabo de decir, estaban todos perfectamente escritos y actuados. El problema de esta serie empieza cuando para sobre explotarla, los creadores de la misma necesitan forzar a algunos personajes a tomar decisiones extremadamente irracionales después de haber arriesgado su vida para hacerse ricos.
La serie hace mucho hincapié en cómo estos personajes desarrollaron una relación de tipo familiar mientras cometían y planeaban el robo, e incluso hay un caso de síndrome de Estocolmo con un personaje víctima que se enamora de uno de los criminales. Sin embargo, la verdadera naturaleza de estos personajes es que son criminales y son ladrones, después de que su robo tenga éxito, deberían seguir con sus vidas y alcanzar sus otros sueños. Sin embargo, no en esta serie.
Una vez completado el primer robo y todos se hacen ricos, uno de los miembros más jóvenes de la banda criminal es atrapado por la policía por cometer un error muy tonto. No tomó las medidas de protección adecuadas para no ser atrapado y acabó pagando las consecuencias. Cuando el líder de la banda, el Profesor, es informado de esto, acaba consiguiendo convencer a la banda para que haga otro robo aún más arriesgado con el fin de chantajear a las autoridades para que liberen a su joven y estúpido miembro de la banda que fue encarcelado.
Esta es la decisión irracional que mencioné antes. No tiene sentido que estos delincuentes arriesguen una vez más sus vidas cuando la única recompensa es rescatar a uno de los miembros más estúpidos del grupo. No son una verdadera familia, y después del primer robo todos vivían sin contacto entre sí. No sólo eso, sino que hay algunos personajes que son aún más irracionales.

However, the most irrational of all is the character known as "Stockholm" and this is a fitting name because she literally develops Stockholm syndrome in the first robbery. This character not only becomes the girlfriend of one of the members, but she also is the mother of a baby and she also decides to risk her life and her baby's future in order to participate in the second robbery. This doesn't make sense. She has no friendship or anything with the imprisoned gang member, and her priorities in life should be the wellbeing of her baby and of herself of course.
Why would this person, in her rational mind, willingly participate in an almost impossible robbery where the only goal is to rescue a guy she shouldn't care about, and when she and her partner are already rich for life? This character is the most irrational of all, and in my case, all of this really reduces the enjoyment of the show.
For characters that need to make extremely precise plans and decisions, they surely love to become all emotional and let irrationality run wild.
The episodes that were released at the beginning of December provide a proper ending to this story, and they include several unexpected twists that were really hard to see coming. I believe most fans of the show will be happy with these episodes but it is really impossible not to realize this series got really overmilked.

The main director of the series is Jesús Colmenar. He usually works in series and some of the other ones directed by him are Sky Rojo and Vis a Vis.
Koldo Serra also worked as a director in recent seasons and he is known for working as a director in Caminantes, The Ministry of Time, and La fuga.
The main writer and creator of the show is Álex Pina. He usually writes series and not films, with some recent examples being Los hombres de Paco, Bienvenidos al Lolita, and White Lines.
Javier Gómez Santander was also one of the writers who has been working in the show since the beginning. He always works alongside Alex Pina in series.
There are many important cast members in this show, but I would like to only mention 4 of them because I consider these the most relevant ones of the last episodes.
Álvaro Morte plays the Professor and this character is always important, the most intelligent of the entire squad, he is the mastermind of the robberies. This actor has recently worked in the series Boundless, The Wheel of Time, and The Head.
Sin embargo, la más irracional de todos es el personaje conocido como "Estocolmo" y este es un nombre apropiado porque literalmente desarrolla el síndrome de Estocolmo en el primer robo. Este personaje no sólo se convierte en la novia de uno de los criminales, sino que además es madre de un bebé y también decide arriesgar su vida y el futuro de su bebé para participar en el segundo robo. Esto no tiene sentido. No tiene ninguna amistad ni nada con el criminal encarcelado, y sus prioridades en la vida deberían ser el bienestar de su bebé y el de ella misma, por supuesto.
Por qué esta persona, en su mente racional, participaría voluntariamente en un robo casi imposible donde el único objetivo es rescatar a un tipo que no debería importarle mucho, y cuando ella y su pareja ya son ricos de por vida? Este personaje es el más irracional de todos, y en mi caso, todo esto realmente reduce el disfrute de la serie.
Para personajes que necesitan hacer planes y tomar decisiones extremadamente precisas, seguro que les encanta volverse todos emocionales y dar rienda suelta a la irracionalidad.
Los episodios que se estrenaron a principios de diciembre proporcionan un final adecuado a esta historia, e incluyen varios giros inesperados que eran realmente difíciles de ver venir. Creo que la mayoría de los fans de la serie estarán contentos con estos episodios, pero es realmente imposible no darse cuenta de que esta serie se sobre explotó bastante.

Fernando Cayo plays the lead detective trying to stop the criminal gang from successfully finishing their second robbery. He has also worked in Lourdes y Concha and The Orphanage.
Najwa Nimri plays Alicia Sierra, a very aggressive detective with a quick wit and who loves to take big risks even though she was heavily pregnant. In recent years she has worked in the Vis a Vis series, and in the films The Tree of Blood and 10,000 Nights Nowhere.

The performances during this season were very exaggerated. The authenticity these characters had during the first robbery was completely lost, and there were cases where I even started to think Berlin was a bit mentally unstable given the fact he sometimes acted like a crazy person.
Most of the performances weren't epic as they intended and the feeling of watching an overmilked production never stopped.

Money Heist had a very epic first robbery, which allowed this production to earn fans all over the world, however, the people in charge of it couldn't resist the temptation to overmilk this success with a second robbery, and from this point, the series started to fall apart.
I guess these episodes have moments that some fans will love for one reason or another but in my opinion, this series is an example of what NOT to do when a production achieves unexpected levels of success. An example of what to DO could be the series Dark, which was originally planned for 3 seasons, and despite its success and how easy it could have been to overmilk it the creators followed their original plan.

Las actuaciones durante esta temporada fueron muy exageradas. La autenticidad que tenían estos personajes durante el primer robo se perdió por completo, y hubo casos en los que incluso empecé a pensar que Berlín era un poco inestable mentalmente dado que a veces actuaba como un loco.
La mayoría de las interpretaciones no fueron épicas como pretendían y la sensación de estar viendo una producción excesivamente sobre explotada no cesó en ningún momento.

La Casa de Papel tuvo un primer robo muy épico, lo que permitió a esta producción ganar fans en todo el mundo, sin embargo, sus responsables no pudieron resistir la tentación de sobre explotar este éxito con un segundo robo, y a partir de aquí, la serie empezó a decaer.
Supongo que estos episodios tienen momentos que a algunos fans les encantarán por una u otra razón, pero en mi opinión, esta serie es un ejemplo de lo que NO hay que hacer cuando una producción alcanza niveles de éxito inesperados. Un ejemplo de lo que SÍ hay que podría ser la serie Dark, que originalmente estaba planeada para 3 temporadas, y a pesar de su éxito y de lo fácil que podría haber sido sobre explotarla los creadores siguieron su plan original.
