Netflix recently released this new series just in time to binge-watch it in the first few days of January. It was compared by Dark but when new productions are compared to masterpieces they rarely hold a candle to it so I never had the hopes of it actually being a type of mini Dark.

Equinox is a series from Denmark where a bus full of recently graduated high school students has an accident and all the students, with the exception of 3 of them and the bus driver, disappear. I think some people compared this series to Dark just for the hype because the story doesn't have time travel nor multiple realities. There is some kind of infra reality though.

The disappearance of these students was obviously a traumatic event for the people living in that community. Many years later, the younger sister of one of the girls who disappeared receives a phone call from a person who says he has information about what happened and they should talk. This will force her to seriously investigate this incident and discover once and for all what happened to those students.

This isn't really a scifi series like Dark, it is actually a fantasy series with drama and mystery mixed in. Despite the fact it only lasts 6 episodes it could have been shorter. The plot isn't really that complex and the pace of the show was slow the majority of the time.

Some scenes of the series could be compared to Midsommar or maybe even Hereditary, although have in mind this isn't a horror series. Some of the dialogues between 2 characters felt incomplete because in those circumstances it would be almost impossible to not ask a ton of questions until satisfactory answers were delivered. It was a cool show but I think it could have been even better.

If you enjoy the mystery genre then this would be a great series to watch. It is not a masterpiece but it was very entertaining and the mystery was very original as well. Have in mind that if you don't like mysteries that involve fantasy elements then it would be better to skip this series. If you like supernatural mysteries then feel free to give it a watch.
