This is a classic movie from Julia Roberts that I haven't seen before and it was all right. I have seen other movies where the plot is somewhat similar, a humble person discovers a huge corporation responsible for some horrible contamination, and after gathering enough proof and courage, they go after the corporation to make them pay.
This movie is based on real-life facts and Erin is a real person. The lawsuit in this movie was against PG&E because they were contaminating the underground water of a whole community, causing all sorts of medical issues for the population, including cancer and even death.
What is remarkable about this woman is that she didn't have an education in the law, she was all about dedication and applying what could be called a heuristic approach in the pursuit of a good job even in fields that were foreign to her.
Despite being a smart and beautiful woman, Erin Brockovich begins this story in a very rough spot. She has 3 kids and one of them is a small baby, she doesn't have a husband but rather 2 ex-husbands who apparently don't send her any money, and is finding a lot of difficulties making ends meet. This is the reason why she began to look for jobs in any industry, such as the law.
Due to her personal troubles, she seems to be constantly stressed and highly emotional, but she is also spontaneous and has a lot of people skills and making others feel comfortable with her. This will allow them to earn the trust of all the victims from the water poisoning.
This isn't the only movie that explores similar stories but it is a good one. There is a lot of drama from Erin's personal life but there is also enough information about the lawsuit to keep things interesting. This story is also a perfect example of how can any person find success if they make their best effort and keep going even when things get hard. In that sense, this is a really inspiring movie.
