Fargo is a well-known name in the crime genre. The original movie was produced in the 90s by the Coen brothers, and then in 2014, an anthology series began production under the same name. In the series, each season is independent of each other and tells different crime stories with bits of black comedy here and there.
One thing that characterizes this brand is the use of fun characters with unique personalities and dialogues. This is as far from generic as it can possibly be. I remember watching the first season several years ago and in the first 5 minutes there was already a conversation between 2 40yo men, one was an ex bully with his son and the other was an ex victim of bullying. When it comes to the second season, I remember I began watching it some time ago but I am not sure if I finished, I might rewatch it but I am not sure. Season 4, on the other hand, will be released next month with Chris Rock as the main star!
Season 3 is the story of 2 brothers. The older one is a wealthy businessman and the younger one appears to be a lowlife but he actually has a respectful job. There is a lot of resentment between them and the younger one has a pretty ex-convict as a girlfriend.
The drama and problems between these 2 brothers might have been enough to produce an interesting plot, but there is also another important character that will be the one bringing total chaos. He is a British "businessman" who has extremely ugly teeth but is also very smooth and smart when convincing people into doing the things he wants. This guy one day visits the wealthy brother and finds a way to force him into working together.
This is not a normal businessman and is always accompanied by some elegant looking thugs with all sorts of skills. They are ruthless and willing to do everything to get away with their plans. This character is going to be very problematic for everyone involved, so much so, that the issues between the brothers will pale in comparison.
If you are looking for a fine crime series I totally recommend checking Fargo out, especially season 3 and 1. Season 2 is probably also good but I don't really remember much of it. There is not a lot of black comedy in season 3 and I would have liked for there to be more but it was still very entertaining and a good quality production.
This is a series that deserves to have the Fargo brand attached to it, something that cannot be said, for example, about the new "Penny Dreadful City of Angels", which used the well-known Penny Dreadful name but ended up being a disaster. Fargo series is top-notch entertainment.

- The same actor plays 2 brothers even though the characters aren't twins.
