I usually don't enjoy watching black and white movies. I don't get their supposed artistic value, and why waste all the potential available in modern screens to display beautiful images with their constantly expanding color range? Anyways, I recently decided to watch this Argentinian horror film because it looked interesting. It was a black and white film but that didn't discourage me enough to skip this one. Also, in the end, there are some scenes in color but I would say 99% of the film is black and white but with a very good reason.

The story is about a show on Argentinian public TV called "60 Minutes Before Midnight", this is a journalistic show and due to political pressures, they are about to broadcast their very last episode. However, this episode won't be just a regular episode but one that will change the world and reality itself.

Por lo general, no disfruto viendo películas en blanco y negro. No entiendo su supuesto valor artístico, y ¿por qué desperdiciar todo el potencial disponible en las pantallas modernas para mostrar hermosas imágenes con su gama de colores en constante expansión? De todos modos, recientemente decidí ver esta película de terror argentina porque se veía interesante. Era una película en blanco y negro, pero eso no me desanimó lo suficiente como para saltarmela. Además, al final, hay algunas escenas en color pero yo diría que el 99% de la película es en blanco y negro pero hay una muy buena razón para esto.

La historia trata sobre un programa de la TV pública argentina llamado "60 minutos antes de la medianoche", este es un programa periodístico y debido a presiones políticas, están a punto de transmitir su último episodio. Sin embargo, este episodio no será solo un episodio regular, sino que cambiará el mundo y a la realidad misma.

The story takes place in what appears to be the 70s, a group of journalists has been investigating potential connections between the political elite and evil paranormal forces. In the show, there are several guests, an exceptional guy who wrote a book dismantling all sorts of conspiracies, a senator, and another weird man who talks a bunch of crazy stuff and who apparently has inside knowledge about these evil paranormal connections.

The investigation gets heated because there is a person who witnessed a man disappearing in front of his eyes while being on top of a dead body in what could have been some kind of ritualistic sacrifice in a public space. The movie basically has 3 simultaneously settings, one is the show itself, another one is a little apartment where 4 journalists are following the story and making plans to prove the corruption, and the third one is the fifth member of the journalists' group who is on the street waiting for instructions to retrieve information from a certain place.

It is very important to notice the time period where everything is happening. This is why they decided to show everything in black and white and with a 4:3 resolution. Have in mind that when either of these 2 things changes, there is a good implied reason that explains it. This will make itself very clear to those who pay attention at the end of the film.

La historia tiene lugar en lo que parecen ser los años 70, un grupo de periodistas ha estado investigando posibles conexiones entre la élite política y las fuerzas paranormales malvadas. En el programa, hay varios invitados, un tipo que escribió un libro desmantelando todo tipo de conspiraciones, un senador y otro hombre extraño que habla un montón de locuras y que aparentemente tiene conocimiento interno sobre estas malvadas conexiones paranormales.

La investigación se calienta porque hay una persona que presenció a un hombre desaparecer frente a sus ojos mientras estaba encima de un cadáver en lo que podría haber sido una especie de sacrificio ritual en un espacio público. La película tiene básicamente 3 escenarios simultaneos, uno es el programa en sí, otro es un pequeño departamento donde 4 periodistas están siguiendo la historia y haciendo planes para probar la corrupción, y el tercero es el quinto miembro del grupo de periodistas que está en la calle esperando instrucciones para recuperar información de un lugar determinado.

Es muy importante notar el período de tiempo en el que todo está sucediendo. Por eso decidieron mostrar todo en blanco y negro y con una resolución de 4: 3. Ten en cuenta que cuando cualquiera de estas 2 cosas cambia, hay una buena razón implícita que lo explica. Esto quedará muy claro para quienes presten atención al final de la película.

In the show, the weird man will eventually begin to say all sort of crazy stuff like reality is fake, everything is fake, and that people's memory has been modified to prevent them from realizing what is actually happening. He is also strategic in the type of questions he answers and sometimes he will decline to answer questions related to a particularly hot topic. This character, the weird man, is the most intriguing of all.

As the movie advances, the conversation in the show will begin to get more and more heated, the journalists in the apartment will become more and more paranoid, and the same can be said about the girl on the street. The climax is a memorable one and I completely enjoyed this original way to tell a horror story.

I would recommend this movie for fans of the horror and suspense genre. This was simply a great experience to have, and even though it could have been better, I think most lovers of the 2 genres will certainly enjoy it.

En el programa, el hombre extraño eventualmente comenzará a decir todo tipo de cosas locas como que la realidad es falsa, todo es falso y que la memoria de las personas ha sido modificada para evitar que se den cuenta de lo que realmente está sucediendo. También es estratégico en el tipo de preguntas que responde y, a veces, se niega a responder preguntas relacionadas con un tema particularmente candente. Este personaje, el hombre extraño, es el más intrigante de todos.

A medida que avanza la película, la conversación en el programa comenzará a ser cada vez más acalorada, los periodistas en el apartamento se volverán cada vez más paranoicos, y lo mismo puede decirse de la chica en la calle. El clímax es memorable y disfruté completamente esta forma original de contar una historia de terror.

Recomendaría esta película a los fanáticos del género de terror y suspenso. Esta fue simplemente una gran experiencia, y aunque podría haber sido mejor, creo que la mayoría de los amantes de los 2 géneros sin duda la disfrutarán.
