Not too long ago Netflix released this very cool crime movie. I wasn't sure what the plot was about but I knew the main actress, Rosamund Pike, was capable of driving intense plots after watching Gone Girl a few years ago. This movie is also, in my opinion, the latest example of what I perceive to be a double standard when it comes to rating Netflix productions. I mean, I feel like sometimes a movie/series produced by Netflix could have received higher ratings from the main websites if it was produced by a different company. This is just a feeling that I have and I might be mistaken with this.
Anyways, back to the movie, I Care a Lot is a film about a criminal organization that provides services in the elderly care industry. They hunt down vulnerable old people and use legal gimmicks to take control of their lives by faking some type of incapacity in the elderly person. The leader of this organization, played by actress Pike, becomes the legal guardian of these old people, she sends them to care facilities, and then she and her partner proceed to misappropriate their money and properties.

This was a very original type of scam that I have never seen portrayed in a movie before, which made it even more interesting. They are very organized, have a good reputation in the health industry and in the courtrooms, and they figured out how to exploit this apparent legal loophole that could allow a machiavellian legal guardian from exploiting their protectees. In order for all of this plan to work she needs accomplices in several key positions and she has them.
Everything appears to be going good when one day, while on the hunt for a new victim, she decides to put her claws in what seemed like a lonely and easy to deceive old lady. In the beginning, the plan work perfectly, the old lady is taken to the health facility, Pike's character becomes the legal guardian, and the plan to take control of the old lady's wealth is in full motion. The only problem is that this isn't a regular old lady, and she isn't really lonely. She has a very powerful "friend" out there.

This is where Peter Dinklage, the actor who played the charismatic character Tyrion in the GOT series, becomes important. He will become Pike's worst nightmare. He is a powerful and resourceful mob guy who doesn't like people messing with him.
This is the type of guy who could decide to murder someone with ease and without any type of remorse. This will be a clash between 2 horrible individuals, one skillful and the other resourceful. However, this film doesn't glorify criminals and this will become obvious once we reach its well-deserving ending.
If you are in the mood for a cool criminal movie I would recommend this one. Have in mind the scam might be a little far-fetched, but this doesn't mean the story cannot be entertaining. I enjoyed it, and the main characters were played by 2 great actors who did a good job. It is a very watchable film for sure.

The best
- Excellent performances from both Pike and Dinklage.
- Very original and entertaining plot.
The worst
- The courage of Pike's character was almost impossible to believe.
- There is a very dramatic scene with a generic, just-in-time "epic" moment.
- There was no comedy even though comedy is one of its genres.
