This was an awesome movie! I recently decided to start taking into consideration movies from previous decades because I have already watched most of the good movies of recent years. Even though there are many great ones that are worth the re-watch (thinking about the digital release of Joker for next week :D), nothing can beat watching a story for the first time and immersing yourself in a plot without knowing where it will go.
In fact, I had such a good time when I first watched Interstellar back in 2014 that, if I could, I would delete my memory of it and watch it again just to feel really amazed once again (the wave scene and the docking scene are pure top-notch art!)
Back to Images. This is a British film about a wealthy couple, they seem to have a normal life, they are childless and are professionally accomplished. Everything seems alright except the woman has something broken in her mind. The movie makes this very clear right in the first scene with a set of creepy phone calls.
Being a wealthy couple, the setting is very pretty with a house near a waterfall in what appears to be the countryside. Thanks to this, there are several scenes that are gorgeous with the exciting elements of suspense and intrigue as a result of what the woman experiences in her mind.
Even though this movie is included in the horror genre, it is rather a story full of suspense, it is not scary nor creepy and there are no supernatural elements. The proper term to describe this movie would be a psychological thriller and a very entertaining one I have to say.
The lead actress takes all the merit when it comes to the acting. The husband did a regular job, sometimes trying to emulate stereotypes, although since the movie is more than 40 years old this is hard to judge.
The movie also portrays what it must be like to live with schizophrenic issues, how it affects everyday interactions and how it becomes impossible to know the differences between reality and imagination, including the frustration of realizing these issues are happening and there is no way to stop them.
The best
- Beautiful setting in parts of the film
- Amazing lead actress
- Intriguing story with excellent twists and moments full of suspense
The worst
- The actor who played the husband wasn't very good.
- There are very little characters throughout the entire movie
