This movie is a French drama from 1995. It follows the life of a woman looking to work as a live-in maid for a wealthy family. Right at the beginning of the film we already see her doing an interview with her future boss. She begins working with this family in their remote mansion a few days later.
The first contact with the woman on the right side of the poster, the one on the left is the live-in maid, happens when she is being taken to the family home for the first time and this woman quickly asks for a ride. She notices the new maid but remains silent about it, like if she was planning how to proceed with her plans given the new circumstances.
This maid is a very quiet woman, it is clear she is used to not make much noise and is also very dedicated to her job. In the beginning, she is perfect for the family but she is also secretly embarrassed because she lacks a very basic skill that's normal to have in modern societies, including the time where this movie is set. The film will show glimpses of the lack of this skill and eventually it will be out in the open.
The lack of this very basic skill will cause trouble in her job because instead of being honest about it since the beginning, she decided to not say anything about it. So when she needs to do some normal tasks that require this skill she has to figure out how to actually complete them. Eventually, she finds herself in a situation where she simply acts as an irresponsible maid because she was unable to comply with a very simple order.
Since this maid didn't know anyone in this place, she quickly forms a friendship with a very outgoing lady with no good intentions, she appears friendly and innocent at the beginning but for a reason that's never explicitly explained in the movie, she has some kind of animosity towards this wealthy family. I do think both women had some kind of mental issue, but this is just my interpretation.
If you are looking for a decent European drama, this would be a good choice. There is also crime in the movie but this is just in the very end. The rest of the film belongs completely to the drama genre.

- The plot was very slow.
- The movie doesn't show why there was so much tension between the family and the other lady.
