When I first read about this story I was expecting to see an original and intriguing scifi mystery. After watching the film, I can say it is indeed very original, but the mystery wasn't really intriguing and the plot would be almost the same even if there wasn't a mystery, to begin with.
The story is about a man who is taking care of his younger brother because he is sick. The medical bills are quite expensive and his regular job isn't enough to provide his brother with the best treatment for his disease. There is a new generation of quantum computers being released in the market, and the company that creates these devices is growing very rapidly.

Besides this new generation of computers, there are also companies developing a new generation of connectivity to increase the speed on the net. Since the guy is in dire need of more money, he ends up learning about an opportunity to work for a company that is one the leaders in connecting quantum servers.
The job is basically to go to remote areas, usually woods and mountains, connect one end of the cable to a huge modern box that is supposed to be a quantum server, and then start walking their corresponding route until they reach another huge box and connect the cable to it. Even though these areas are remote, there is technology present. There are drones that drop more cable every time the workers need it, and there are also robots that pretty much do the same job as the workers, which is why these robots are hated because they are competition that never sleeps.

The main character got into this job simply because he had an acquaintance with good connections inside this industry. This will become obvious as the movie advances but honestly, this mystery wasn't that impactful. As he begins his new job he will naturally chat with other people and learn more about what it is they are all doing in this place.
The mystery is related to the robots that compete with the workers in what is clearly unfair competition, and it is also related to the user the main character is assigned, that has a conflictive history in this company. Unlike normal workers, the main character didn't create his user but was rather assigned one by his acquaintance.
I had very high expectations and this turned out to be just an average or maybe even slightly below average movie with an original plot that isn't that intriguing. I was expecting something crazy to happen but it never did. One thing I did like was the look at this kind of futuristic gig economy, and the performances from the cast were good as well. The weak point was in the writing of the story, it implies there is something greater behind the shadows but never fully explores this possibility. And when it shows something, it is not that shocking. If you are interested in seeing a slightly futuristic take on the gig economy, then maybe this flick is worth the watch.
