Last week I watched the first Psycho-Pass movie which was a direct sequel to the events of season 2. Since I am watching all the Psycho-Pass content in order, after the first movie the next events to take place in this futuristic world are those named "Sinners of the System."

These stories are more focused on the Enforcers characters rather than the Inspectors. In this world. the police use the help of potential criminals that are under control to use them as muscle for battle when dealing with crazy criminals. Who is a potential criminal is decided by the Sibyl system and the crime coefficient number that it assigns to every person. Some Enforces were Inspectors in the past but after facing so many atrocities, they suffered from too much psychological destabilization, and this resulted in their crime coefficient going up.

Sinners of the System can be considered as a spin-off rather than a sequel. These are isolated events that don't continue any of the plots previously explored and are pretty much self-contained in a bubble. However, the Enforces are very important characters that any viewer of this show will be already accustomed to seeing in action.

The first part of this sort of trilogy is about a very special prison that is doing risky experiments with the prisoners with the goal of trying to reduce their high crime coefficient. What this prison is doing is in no way a moral thing to do since they are destroying individuality and free will. In short words, they are creating a new modern form of slavery. This is a hard case to solve and was undoubtedly my favorite one of the trilogy.

The second case was about the dark secrets of a military attack that took place in the past and ended up killing most of the pilots involved. Let's not forget this world is full of corruption and immorality everywhere we see. This attack wasn't a regular one and there was a sinister plan at play.

The last case follows the main Enforcer of the first season, Kogami, after the events that happened in the first movie. He has been living as a sort of mercenary and this time he will also have to protect a vulnerable girl that finds herself alone in a very troubling situation. Despite the fact he is a potential the show proves time and time again this character is good and is driven by a proper sense of morality. The episode is about growing as a person and controlling the destructive thirst for revenge.

I only recommend this trilogy to those who are already fans of the show. These aren't the best stories in the Psycho-Pass show but they certainly enrich the world and several characters.

The best

  • Good way to explore more about certain characters.

The worst

  • The cases weren't as high quality as the previous ones.
