Netflix recently released this new drama movie with a bunch of well-known actors and it was a good production. The story is a serious drama about evilness in people you can encounter everywhere. It is set in the middle of the twentieth century and it covers 2 generations of the same family, especially the life of 1 guy who has enough bad luck to always encounter evil people time and time again.
There are several deeply religious characters in the story but that doesn't prevent evil and disaster from manifesting themselves. The story is about evilness and bad people but religion is always present everywhere you look, this gives some characters an aura of hypocrisy and deceitfulness.

The main character is the one played by Tom Holland and the story begins when he is just a kid living with his very religious father and his mother. He is going to face a lot of hardship throughout and he really seems like the main victim in this story.
Now that I think about it, perhaps it is his pureness and integrity the least believable aspect of the entire film given the context of where he lives. And who knows, maybe this type of experience was normal in those times, perhaps the cozy lifestyle of today's modernity is not as common as we might think.

The entire cast did a tremendous job portraying their characters, some of them like Robert Pattison even managed to use a fake accent but in a very believable way. The overtly religious characters, especially 2 were also very good when performing in 2 difficult and emotionally intense scenes.
If you are looking for a good drama and can tolerate some violence then you should check this film out. The beginning is slow but this is normal for dramatic movies. There are no big twists in the movie but these aren't needed to produce a compelling tale. In the end, this was a nice drama with no touching scenes because the hard moments usually include violence rather than sadness.

The best
- Great acting from the cast members, some of them with believable fake accents.
- The drama is hard but not far fetched.
The worst
- The movie was very slow at the beginning.
