This film is pretty old, almost 50 years old. It was first released in 1971 and I would bet it was very edgy and exciting back in those times. For modern audiences, this is still a good film but it doesn't bring anything that could be considered too special except for the fact it is based on real-life facts.
The story is about a NY policeman, who is trying to track down people involving in drug deals, specifically heroin coming from a criminal group in France. In today's world, most drugs are from Hispanic countries like Colombia, Venezuela, or Mexico, but I guess that in the 70s and 60s there must have been important European criminals groups that elaborated plans to introduce drugs in America.
This detective from New York discovers there is an imminent shipment of drugs valued in several million dollars and begins an aggressive investigation in collaboration with some of his colleagues to stop this drug from entering the American market.
There is a fun part where the detective is following the French drug lord on the subway and he is trying to do it casually so the criminal isn't aware of it. But this French guy is very perceptive and realizes this man is following him, so he starts to mess with the policeman and "casually" going in and outside of the subway.
The film has the typical chasing scenes, some shootings, the typical cop taking a car from a civilian to continue his urgent pursue of a criminal, among many other things that most people are already familiar with.
The story isn't very exciting but this must be because the style feels dated but if you enjoy classic movies about detectives against criminals, this is a perfect example of that type of film. Therefore it wouldn't be an entirely good choice for modern audiences except those looking for a classic police flick.

- At times it felt like a regular police movie with not much uniqueness.
