French horror always brings something new to the table. And The Swarm is one of those french movies where you get exactly different from what the title suggests. You would kind of feel different from the pure trailer to the final movie experience. If you like the movies like "as above so below" then this is another movie which you would enjoy too. And for that let's review the movie.

Story
It all starts with a female lead who is a farmer and breeds the locusts and then sell their powder as a meal for the chicken or other animals. And considering the powder is full of protein she expects bigger costs for the same. And then suddenly the story takes different turn. There is no gore violence or swarm doing anything until the end. And that too for small period. But the story is lot different than we expect some animal violence.
Characters
The lead character is named virginie and she has very characters around her like her friend karim, daughter laura and the son. So basically the movie has very limited characters. None of them would make you feel anything wrong. Though each one of them make their character felt in the movie. So kind of interesting character display in the movie.
Is it Horror or Psychological or Thriller?
I am kind of stumped which is which in that case. I first thought it was horror movie then turned out this is more of pain lover psychological and then it turns thriller. So it just goes to show that mixed genre movie at the end of the movie. So yeah a lot of mixture of content right there. But yeah if you like something like this which is expected from french movie then definitely try it out.
Conclusion
Most of the horrors these days are more or less psychological and a lot of behavioral context get into the play. The swarm is something like that. You would feel lot different about human ability to crave for pains. And that would also get you to think of life a lot differently. It's worth watching once for that reason.
I'd definitely recommend watching this movie on Netflix if you are into horror, thriller type of TV Shows.
