1992 comedy Wayne’s World, based on eponymous series of Saturday Night Live sketches, shows how two best friends and hard rock enthusiasts – Wayne Campbell (played by Michael Myers) and Garth Altar (played by Dana Carvey) – run public-access television show from Wayne’s parents’ basement. Generic plot is rather forgettable, but the film is nevertheless kept together by Myers’ comedic talent and director Penelope Spheeris, author known for her love of rock music, best reflected in the scene where protagonists give memorable rendition of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. Immensely successful with the audience of its time, Wayne’s World nowadays can be best recommended to the parts of audience that share musical tastes of its protagonists.
