As soon as the wheels of the plane I was in left the Cypriot soil, I felt a slight nostalgia for this warm, sunny island.
I arrived in my city and when I got out of the airport building, I was already missing the warm Cypriot air. It was 15°C here and 30°C there... In the evening, after resting from the night's journey, I looked for a movie set in Cyprus. The movie was recommended: Find me falling A light, warm, summer movie with which you can relax and take a walk along the Mediterranean shores and narrow streets of the Cypriot seaside town. I watched the movie on Netflix. It is an American Cypriot production, a romantic comedy, with Harry Connick Jr. in the lead role, while the direction and script is written by Svetlana Kliris.
Set in colorful and sunny Cyprus, it combines tame island drama, seascapes and beautiful music. The film brings authentic local charm — from Cypriot food, music and customs, to the mature Mediterranean lifestyle.
At the center of the story is John Allman, a faded American rock star whose latest album did quite poorly. Disillusioned and in search of peace and inspiration, John decides to retire from the scene, packs his bags and buys an old house on a cliff above the sea in Cyprus — the place where he once spent an unforgettable summer. However, the escape from reality does not go according to plan at all. Only after moving in, John learns that the cliff right next to his house is a notorious local suicide spot, so instead of peace, he constantly has to be on duty and dissuade unlucky passers-by from jumping.
When he goes to the town to get supplies, he meets Anastasia, Sia, his great nostalgia and former love from his youth.
As an old passion reignites, John falls into a web of local family intrigue, untold secrets from the past, and meets a young, extremely talented, beautiful singer who will change his outlook on life.
This is a visually beautiful film full of Mediterranean sun, blue sea and narrow stone streets. Ideal summer visual therapy. No heavy drama or stress. The story is about second chances, forgiveness, rediscovering inspiration and love in adulthood. In addition to beautiful landscapes, the film is filled with excellent acoustic songs and traditional Mediterranean music.
