A new review, a TV show from a different country: The Grave

Review by @duvinca · 1324d · of The Grave

Hello friends!

It's Sunday, time for movies or Tv shows! Today I come with a recommendation and a review of a TV show that I have seen recently. I must say that I had no intention of watching that specific series, it was chosen a bit randomly or maybe not… who knows?

What we often don't know is which series to choose, as our catalogs increase with more options, the search can be longer and we get lost among summaries, categories and recommendations.

Sometimes these recommendations can be about series from other countries, there are not only American series, or those from our country, or perhaps the British, there are more... Even from places that did not attract our attention a priori, from which countries do you usually watch series?

Honestly, it's the first time, I think, that I've seen a TV series from Israel, and I liked it. Because I like suspense series, with a certain mystery, and if there is something out of the ordinary, too.

And that's basically what "The Grave" (2019) is about.

The Grave

A series about an unusual investigation, although at first it seems normal... after an earthquake, the earth moves in a national park and three skeletons of human beings appear. The investigation continues its course until the forensic analysis reveals and the result is that the DNA of all the bones correspond to living people, how can that be? Between disbelief, the certainty that it was a mistake, the plot that affects those living people develops, three very different characters each with a different life that in the end are affected by said investigation, because the tests leave no room. no doubt. But more doubts are arising as the inspectors investigate, and it seems that nothing makes sense anymore.

Other characters are also related to and involved in an event that seems increasingly less normal and more paranormal, be careful, SPOILER maybe? --->parallel worlds? other timelines? living and dead people at the same time?

My thoughts

I liked the plot because it allows the viewer to think about different theories, while he advances in the investigation together with the characters. The actors are not known at least to me, but they do well. What is most striking is that I constantly pay attention to the words and the signs, because being in Hebrew language you don't understand anything, but I think it makes it somehow more curious and interesting.

It could be one more suspenseful series and at some point something crazy, because it starts out quite real, and little by little it gets closer little by little to the fantastic or science fiction world, but in a natural way. It draws you into the story and you don't want to leave until you know what's going on...

And already knowing what happens, it's not enough because it doesn't end in 8 episodes, there will be another season I imagine because everything remains... I can't say more... What a cliffhanger!

And watching the images of the series on IMDB it seems it has been competing in the Cannes Film Festival.

While I have been curious and have seen another Israeli series also in Filmin platform, about an internal affairs policeman on the verge of retirement and all the corruption that usually exists between police and politics. It's called Manayek, although I like The Grave better. We will see, and we will watch...

It seems everytime I get into a TV series they get taken off the air, lol :-( Mostly I don't have time to watch, if I do its a few days or longer off the DVR. Wow a lot of 💜 on this post congratulations Duvinca.

I have never watched TV series from Israel. Lately I don't have time at all for TV and I miss that relaxing time, especially when I read some interesting recommendations for series like yours in this post. Have a nice day dear! 🤗
