Hello friends!

You may or may not have heard of this series, but I watched it and it shocked me, I had not yet shared my opinion and I wanted to, here I go...

Sometimes we look for a TV show that has been recommended to us, or one that we have thought is interesting after reading a review or criticism, but we are not always right, because later it is not what we thought or it does not seem to us very interesting or such a big deal...

Other times it's almost a coincidence, or as easy as looking at the top 10 most viewed TV series on the platform and choosing one of them, because you wonder why it's so popular if you haven't heard about it before. That happened to me one day trying to choose something to watch on HBO Max, and "From" caught my attention, and I just hit play.

What is FROM about?

In theory it is a scary TV show, I in particular don't like them too much if they focus only on the terror itself, not because it scares me but because it bores me. I actually like mystery, and certainly, this series has a lot of mystery and that is what has fascinated me.

It is about a special and different place, a town that contains many things, mysteries that are hidden especially at night, and that only those who live there know about them...

It all begins with the protagonist walking around one afternoon with a bell warning the rest of the citizens. We realize that he is the mayor or sheriff and he takes all the responsibility. It is his responsibility to keep people alive, because after dark no one can leave their homes or open the door. (And even better to close the windows!)

That mayor (Boyd Stevens) is an actor (Harold Perrineau) that I remember having seen him before, I remember him from another legendary series that I also liked at the time precisely because of the amount of intrigue and mysteries that there were on an island... It was "Lost", do you remember? There he was Michael, and now he stars in this other series that has many parallels, a place where people coexist who seem trapped and have to face the spooky unknown.

Furthermore, it is not surprising that they have the same producers but they also have something particular that manages to hook those who see it: it allows you to create many hypotheses, you think about what it could be, what it can do and what explanations we can give to so many strange things what happens.

Because strange things happen in that town and many of them are dangerous and some unpleasant, that's true, because people die. Some characters, even some that you think are not going to die, die, and those "beings" that appear are not at all pleasant to see.

But while the characters must learn to survive, you find tricks and ways, ways to overcome, to form a community and sometimes to disagree and lose the temper with others.

They must accept the situation when they arrive, to those who arrive, because what happens there is true and from there begins a fight for survival, to try to create something that can make them communicate to ask for help and also to investigate the truth... what happens there and why.

But as the episodes go by, some things seem clearer but others do not, and new things appear, some begin to have dreams or crazy visions... and for so many things we have to find a meaning and an explanation.

Of course it is not easy because in the attempt to explore the surrounding forest new enigmas arise, there are even trees that take you to other places, and also cabins and other remains that give hope but do not provide adequate answers.

Nor the past, searching through books with symbols or sharing those visions that some suffer, only those who have been there longer seem to know more things but do not seem to be able to do much more than continue making their drawings and collecting more images in their room.

Because some live in a big house, like a commune or community in which they try to help themselves, some families live in the town, but all are together and the cafeteria (diner) is the nerve center of everything. In fact, I think there is an important detail in there that they show us as viewers that could play a role... something that could be decisive or maybe it's just my idea. To those who have seen it, do you know what (object) I am referring to? (I won't say more in case it could be a future SPOILER).

For now they have done two seasons, and we hope that soon (I think next year) they will do the third because the ending was very impressive with a great "cliffhanger" that left us in suspense...

My opinion

Precisely I like that suspense, intrigue and psychological relations and reactions. And all that makes you want to put on the next episode, and the next... in case something is resolved, a solution that leads us to a new mystery or investigation, because the plot expands and complicates, and takes us further, where our mind keeps thinking about what is happening... What could it be?

Another important aspect is the characters, they all have different characters and different ways of handling the situation and dealing with fear, problems and survival. There are those who collapse and there are those who help others, there are those who want to continue with their lives and there are those who cannot stop investigating what is happening around them.

Everyone faces a terrifying situation that has taken away someone they love, because in the end the community becomes a family, with its pluses and minuses. And everyone has to face the same thing, because their lives are no longer what they were, even though they miss them and remember them, their present is very different, and we all WANT to know what is happening in that town and why.

There are many possible and impossible theories, not only about the characters or as the script progresses, but those of us who watch the series also have them. At every moment, depending on what is happening, we think of a possibility, we start to think about what we would do and for a moment, science fiction and reality meet even between a screen and the sofa.
