The idea of trying to stay alive makes the movie a lot fun for me. The Walking Dead is a comic book written by Robert kirkman. As humans we have fears, and these fears all sum up to staying alive from the walker groaning in the streets or some enemies within, like in the case of Lizzie who was an imminent threat to anyone around her and could not be trusted. The journey of survival can be bloody, messy, and gory. You wake up and realize the city has been infested with zombies who had just one goal- killing you and you need to kill or be killed thus making many cruel.
I'm rarely scared watching horror movies but the movie Walking Dead speaks on survival which is man's daily overwhelming fear. It makes it real to imagine myself in a world where everyone is cruel or let's say situations had made everyone bloody hoping to live one more day. The mixed feeling knowing your loved one may not be with you the next moment and the later realization that comes knowing the zombies walking among you are less of a threat than the total idea of survival.
Even though everyone was pretty focused on survival, love still played a part. I loved the part where Glenn proposes to Maggie. Glenn didn't have a lengthy speech or even get down on his knees like the usual tradition expected during a proposal. With walkers growling in the background, he simply put a diamond ring in Maggie's hand. Yeah, the two still had time to understand each other amidst the run and hit by walkers, they still have this hope that things will get better and they'll be able to build a future after the whole trouble is over.
I loved all the scenes from various episodes where love played a stronger role. One who had given up on love heard a voice through the radio and there was hope that he could love again. The movie wasn't all about fighting, but showing how tight two could go through tough moments even if surviving wasn't assured. We just love hoping there would be a future, the walkers could have filled the street, killed many in the city but yet love still prevails.
There are a few scenes I didn't like watching the movie, many key actors who died. Also the scene where Lizzie killed her sister Mika . Carol killed a child in order to protect others. Carol who was also one of the main characters killed and a lot of dead happening all of a sudden. Yes, that's life, even the strong die but most times the watcher expects more from those who are key characters to survive, the villain to be killed and many more but the movie chose to surprise all of us. I was unable to watch the whole episode, but so far, this movie has become my favorite scary movie.
