Seishi Kishimoto and his underrated manga: 666 Satan

Review by @edens · 2219d · of O-Parts Hunter

The manga industry is a very tough field, many authors in their first ideas have been rejected several times until a magazine finally accepts their project and even then, after they have been accepted, the fight does not end, since they must remain popular in order not to fall into the "famous" low places of the magazines, besides that they must sell very well, logically. Since each magazine uses a list in which readers vote for their favorite manga and according to that vote will be reflected in the top weekly positions. Not all magazines use this top in the same way, however, the Shonen Jump, which is the most popular magazine in Japan, uses this method, besides being the magazine that has cancelled the most mangas for many years.

In this industry, even if a mangaka's project has been accepted and has obtained a serialization, either weekly or monthly, many times it is very difficult to remain popular or recognized, even more so if there are other mangakas that overshadow you with their projects. This is quite common, however, the case I am going to talk about today is very curious since the mangaka whose work was quite overshadowed is the very brother of Masashi Kishimoto, the mangaka known worldwide for having created Naruto.

Seishi Kishimoto, just like his brother is a mangaka, however, a rather underrated one, since his projects have never had much popularity, even the manga I will tell you about today and which was published for several years, did not get the fame that his brother's manga once had.

666 Satan is a manga that just by looking at the drawings we could believe that it is a manga made by Masashi Kishimoto, since these two brothers, having grown up together and studied manga at the same time, grew up with a quite similar drawing style, besides having the same references as it is: Dragon Ball. In fact, at the beginning when the manga of 666 Satan was starting to be published, many people started to say that it was being copied from Masashi Kishimoto's style, without knowing that these two mangakas were brothers or that they both studied the same, since besides having the same drawing style, they are twin brothers.

666 Satan is presented to us Jio and from the beginning we see similarities with the character of Naruto, the design of these two characters are very similar and both characters have something very powerful inside, in the case of Naruto, he has the fox with nine tails and Jio has Satan himself. So like Naruto, Jio was always hated and despised from an early age, that's why Jio is always alone and his biggest dream is to conquer the world so that everyone will respect him. Here we see the typical Shonen protagonist with aspirations of improvement, with a tragic past and a life goal, but in this case, Jio's life goal is the world conquest, something that is quite funny when said by a child as the protagonist of this manga, however having the same Satan inside, everything can be possible.

In the first pages of the first chapter we are introduced to the second protagonist of this story, which has a design very similar to Bulma from the anime/manga Dragon Ball, and also has a very similar purpose to the character from the manga of Akira Toriya. Ruby's objective is to obtain the O-Parts, which are objects that come from an ancient civilization and which store within these mysterious objects very dangerous mystical powers if they are not controlled. These two characters meet and immediately begins a relationship of friendship that will last until the end of this story. Throughout the chapters, characters and enemies will be incorporated to somehow complete the main plot of this manga.

As I mentioned, the similarities between Satan and Naruto are many, and in a way it is quite logical because of the kinship of these two authors. However, 666 Satan manages to create his own style and separates himself quite a bit from his twin brother's manga, thus creating a story that in general terms, is quite normal as far as the Shonen genre manga is concerned, but which is quite an entertaining product, but at the same time, is quite eclipsed and perhaps doesn't have the popularity it should really have.

666 is a good manga, even quite easily I can say that it is almost as good as Naruto once was, but nevertheless, as happens a lot in the manga industry and in the industry of almost anything, there are projects, inventions, novels, films, series and in this case, there are mangas that although they are very good and entertaining, they do not always reach popularity and it is truly regrettable that these types of stories are lost in time without any recognition.
