King Zhou has become corrupt, allowing evil to dominate his heart. Instead of being a leader whose heart is for the good of his people, his government became oppressive.
He captures and punishes anyone who dares act as a threat to his interests. Behind his wickedness secretly lies Daji, an evil spirit disguised in the form of a woman whom the king married.
Jiang, a powerful mystic sorcerer, and his tribe were determined to defeat the king and bring an end to his wickedness.
The sword of light was the only weapon that could easily defeat the king. Ji Lei, Nezha, and Erlang Shen were sent by Jiang to retrieve the weapon so they could restore balance to the world once again.
The journey was quite a difficult one as the three had to face a lot of obstacles on the way, but eventually they succeeded.
There are a lot of things that stood out in this movie; personally, I love the background of the movie, the costumes, the display of power, and the series of mystical flights.
League of Gods is one movie that doesn't give anyone room to get bored while watching. Each scene has an interesting quest that can keep one's interest alive.
The character Nezha also stood out for me; the transformative power he possessed to switch between a baby and an adult really sits well with me.
The character made the movies interesting with his unique abilities to fight and his ridiculous activities when he transforms into a child.
One of the scenes that I love a lot was when Nezha, as a baby, dealt with the army of the water kingdom with his pee when he was dragged into the water together with the water prince, whom he held captive for a long time.
However, I must confess that the movie is choked with a lot of characters, making it difficult for some of them to experience proper development.
Most of the characters weren't really explored; I wish they had just made the movie a series so that they could properly give the plot more breathing space.
As much as I love the movie, I didn't enjoy the ending. The sword of light was finally activated, and Jiang’s tribe was ready to put an end to the evil confronting the world.
However, Jiang ended up becoming a baby due to a curse and was adopted by the evil king and his wife.
Personally, I have been waiting for a continuation of the movie ever since, and I hope the sequel eventually arrives no matter how long it takes.
I will recommend the movie to those interested in magical movies. The action in the movie is also quite impressive, and of course, the adventure was also handled as it should be.
All the genres in the movie were properly explored, and on the strength of that, I am sure you won't regret watching it.
