Lee Cronin's The Mummy (2026) - Review

Review by @emreal 🏆#169 🎵21 🎬19 📺1 📚1 · 11h · of Lee Cronin's The Mummy · 4 views

There is no greater love than that which comes from family. The world might reject us for many reasons but family will stand by us even if we are monsters.

Lee Cronin's The Mummy is a terrifying horror movie that embraces horror rather than fleeing from it.

Most people wouldn't hesitate to discard anything that poses a threat of any kind to them.

It's 's even very easy to deal with when it's coming from outside, but what happens when those threats come from the ones we genuinely love; our children? do we run, fight them or just embrace them?

The movie was written by Lee Cronin and directed by the same person, starring Jack Reynor, Lala Costa and May Calamawy.

The film runs for 2h 15m and the genre is horror.

The story follows the disappearance of Charlie Cannon's daughter, Katie. Before the event occurred, she had a secret friend who gives her chocolate occasionally at the end of the garden.

Her parents never noticed this until she was gone. The parents sought dearly for her but their efforts yielded no result. They had to move on but the wounds was still fresh in their hearts.

8 years later, an ancient Egyptian coffin was discovered among the wreckage of a plane crash and Katie was found inside.

Her body had transformed into something horrible; almost like an Egyptian Mummy, the difference was that she has flesh, but her family didn't mind, they were happy to have their daughter back.

They took her home and care for her with the hope that she would regain herself eventually. Unfortunately, Katie began doing strange and terrifying things in the house.

Being determined to know what happened to Katie, her father took the ancient bandages she was wrapped in the Egyptian coffin, and took them to an archeologist and he discovered that they had connections with some demon rituals in the ancient Egypt.

The research continued until detective Dalia and Charlie found a name, Layla Khalil which leads to the truth and Katie's salvation.

This movie is different from other horror films, it's more about family, love and sacrifice. We can see that clearly when Charlie decided to receive the demon and become a mummy so that Katie, his daughter can live again.

I respect the realistic visual effects, I can't express how real the peeling of Katie's skin looks. It looks so real one can feel it. Honestly, the body transformation effect in the movie was great.

Weaknesses

I have watched a lot of horror movies before, but this one was not just terrifying but contains a lot of disgusting scenes that I couldn't bear at some points and it's off for me.

One of those scenes was when Katie's mother Larissa was asking Katie to say something out of emotion only for Katie to vomit directly into the mother's mouth.

I am impressed with the ending of the movie; I won't lie, I was hurt when Charlie became a Mummy. I know it's fatherly love but he has suffered a lot to have such an end.

My joy was full when the demon was transferred back to the magician who brought the trouble upon their family.

This is no hype, the movie is quite scary and if you are a lover of horror movies who isn't easily disgusted, give it a shot.

I will rate this movie 7/10
