It is an action drama and historical movie directed by Michael Sarnoski, starring Hugh Jackman, Jodie Comer, and Bill Skarsgård.
I used to hear about the legendary Robin Hood movie, but I have not watched it before. When I saw this one, I was like, okay, let me give this one a trial and luckily I didn't lay my hands on the wrong one.
The Death of Robin Hood is a movie about the aging, mighty legendary outlaw, Robin Hood, who used to steal from the rich and give to the poor. His past glory quickly faded, and his violent deeds became his worst nightmares.
The movie started with the legendary outlaw, Robin Hood, and his friend Little John, who together went to rescue Little John's beloved family of Little John.
Unfortunately, things went south; the wife of Little John was murdered in the process, leaving Little Margaret, their daughter. The battle was won, but Old Robin Hood, whose strength was already diminishing, sustained a severe injury which placed him in a coma.
Little John managed to get him to an isolated island where Sister Brigid managed to heal him.
From that point, the story changed: the outlaw Robin Hood reunited with Little Margaret and heard the news of his friend's demise and began seeking change rather than living like the criminal he used to be.
Life was fine there, and it was almost like he had found happiness until a dying man revealed to Robin Hood that he knew his identity and that among the people he murdered during his days of glory was the husband of the healer, sister Brigid.
That was the beginning of another pain for both Robin Hood and Sister Brigid.
The movie is very captivating, I must say; the background was cool, the soundtrack was a fit, and the kind of landscape and environment used was a perfect match for the movie too.
I must confess, I don't like the excessive dark scenes in the movie. I didn't really enjoy the movie from the start due to how dark it was for so long.
Most of the outstanding actions took place in the night or a dark place, making it difficult for me to really comprehend what was happening, but towards the end, it was fine.
I won't fail to commend the effort of the actors, particularly Hugh Jackman, the outlaw, and Jodie Comer, sister Brigid. The two of them fit very well in the movie and played their role as I expected.
Robin Hood was a strong-willed man, but his walls were broken by the evil he committed in the past. I am impressed with the way he displayed his emotions.
The strong and most wanted villain finally got to a point where he broke down in tears and was begging for his life to be taken away.
The way he managed to let go of who he was and become humble within a short time was well played.
For Jodie, her performance shows that we will always be human, regardless of how much we have transformed into better people.
Immediately, Robin Hood confessed that he was responsible for her husband's death; she switched moods, and she became emotional and brutal.
She forgot that she used to be the sister preaching love and peace, and all she wanted was revenge, even though her conscience was against it.
The movie is such a nice movie, and I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in action movies, but ensure you are not the type that wants the action from the beginning, because this one started very cold, then went hot and then cold again.
The ending was great; however, I was not expecting Robin Hood to die. I expected him to live happily since he has changed, but he chose death; he begged for it till eventually found him.
I will rate this movie 6/10
