¡Hola amigos de hive! Hoy les quiero hablar de una película que está basada en un libro que me gusta mucho: The Hating Game.

La película se estrenó el 10 de diciembre del 2021. Yo la vi recién hace una semana, pero hubiera estado genial verla en diciembre porque creo que puede entrar en la categoría de películas navideñas. Aunque no gira en torno a esta época, ni a este tema. Solo es parte del escenario donde se desarrolla la historia principal.
The movie was released on December 10, 2021. I just saw it a week ago, but it would have been great to see it in December because I think it can fall into the category of Christmas movies. Although it doesn't revolve around this season, or this theme. It's just part of the setting where the main story takes place.
Trama - Plot
Está película nos cuenta la historia de Lucy Hutton, la asistente editorial de la jefa de una editorial cultural. Estás editoriales se preocupan por la calidad de sus publicaciones y mayormente se dirigen a un nicho reducido de personas. Pero como es una editorial pequeña, para poder sobrevivir a una era donde todo es consumo masivo más que otra cosa, se tiene que fusionar con una editorial comercial. Estás otras se preocupan por producir cantidades masivas de libros para un público variado.
This film tells the story of Lucy Hutton, the editorial assistant to the head of a cultural publishing house. These publishers are concerned about the quality of their publications and mostly target a small niche of people. But because it is a small publisher, in order to survive in an age where everything is mass consumption more than anything else, it has to merge with a commercial publisher. These others are concerned with producing massive quantities of books for a varied public.
En este ínterin, los empleados de ambas editoriales tienen que empezar a convivir entre sí. A Lucy le toca compartir oficina con el asistente en jefe del otro dueño de la editorial, Joshua Templeman.
In the meantime, the employees of both publishers have to start living with each other. Lucy has to share an office with the chief assistant to the other owner of the publishing house, Joshua Templeman.
En su afán de querer agradarle, Lucy intenta ser amable con el recién llegado, pero se da cuenta que del otro lado hay pura seriedad y soberbia. Y de repente ambos se empiezan a sacar de quicio mutuamente y a competir entre ellos para ver quién es mejor asistente.
In her eagerness to please him, Lucy tries to be nice to the newcomer, but realizes that on the other side there is pure seriousness and arrogance. Suddenly they start to get on each other's nerves and compete with each other to see who is the better assistant.
Así se dará comienzo a una guerra entre oficinas que parece ser interminable. Todo se complica aún más cuando ambos jefes proponen un nuevo puesto de trabajo de gerente que se encargue de todos los departamentos, y Lucy y Josh lo quieren conseguir. Thus begins a seemingly never-ending inter-office war. Everything gets even more complicated when both bosses propose a new job of manager to be in charge of all departments, and Lucy and Josh want to get it. However, they would hate to be each other's employee so they make a deal that if either of them gets the job the other has to resign. But will hatred or rivalry be the only thing that unites them?
Opinión personal - Personal opinion
Antes de nada tengo que hablar de la cuestión de que cuando hacen una adaptación de algo que me gusta me da cierto miedo de que hagan muchos cambios y pierda la esencia de lo que es. Pero debo decirles que está adaptación es lo más fiel que vi en mucho tiempo. Es como si el libro cobrará vida. Obviamente deja detallitos de lado, pero es lo de menos.
First of all I have to talk about the issue that when they make an adaptation of something I like, I'm a little afraid that they will make too many changes and it will lose the essence of what it is. But I have to tell you that this adaptation is the most faithful I have seen in a long time. It's as if the book came to life. Obviously it leaves some details aside, but that's the least of it.
Es una comedia romántica de esas que te hacen sentir bien. Es fresca y divertida, en serio, las risas no faltaron.

Los actores protagonizaron sus personajes excelentemente. Además tiene el plus extra de que los actores que eligieron para personificar a los protagonistas se parecen a la descripción real de los libros. No es que sea muy importante, por eso digo que es un plus, pienso que lo que importa es que hagan bien su trabajo y por algo fueron elegidos, más allá de su apariencia física. Pero sí es algo que siento que suma mucho en general.
The actors played their characters excellently. It also has the extra plus that the actors that were chosen to personify the main characters resemble the real description of the books. Not that it's very important, that's why I say it's a plus, I think what matters is that they do their job well and that's why they were chosen, beyond their physical appearance. But it is something that I feel adds a lot in general.
Lucy Hale le da vida al personaje de Lucy Hutton, sí, hasta se llaman casi igual. Nuestra protagonista es una mujer bajita, con el pelo corto y con una fascinación por el pintalabios rojo. Le gustan las expresiones efusivas, el desorden y tiene una colección en su casa de pitufos que nadie sabe. También escribe un blog sobre ellos. Es un fanatismo secreto porque teme que la gente se burle de ello.
Lucy Hale gives life to Lucy Hutton's character, yes, they even have almost the same name. Our protagonist is a short woman with short hair and a fascination for red lipstick. She likes effusive expressions, messy and has a collection in her house of Smurfs that no one knows about. She also writes a blog about them. It's a secret fanaticism because she's afraid people will make fun of it.
Joshua Templeman, interpretado por Austin Stowell, es todo lo opuesto. Siempre tan ordenado y pulcro. Su escritorio siempre está minuciosamente acomodado. Su traje nunca está arrugado y cada día de la semana usa una camisa diferente en la escala de azules. Además es tan serio y metódico, sus compañeros de trabajo hasta le temen. Lucy es la única que lo enfrenta.
Joshua Templeman, played by Austin Stowell, is the complete opposite. Always so neat and tidy. His desk is always meticulously arranged. His suit is never wrinkled and every day of the week he wears a different shirt on the blue scale. He is also so serious and methodical, his co-workers are even afraid of him. Lucy is the only one who stands up to him.
Aunque, en realidad, hay una lucha entre ambas editoriales. En la película es bastante notoria la diferencia de quiénes son de un lado y del otro. Se distinguen por las diferentes tonalidades de colores y la vestimenta de cada personaje, siendo los de la editorial pequeña más vivos y coloridos y los de la otra más monocromáticos. Pero ninguna disputa entre empleados llega al nivel de confrontación que tienen nuestros protagonistas.
Although, in reality, there is a struggle between the two publishers. In the movie it is quite noticeable the difference of who are from one side and the other. They are distinguished by the different shades of colors and the clothing of each character, with those of the smaller publisher being more vivid and colorful and those of the other more monochromatic. But no dispute between employees reaches the level of confrontation that our protagonists have.
Como película es bastante llevadera de ver, ideal para pasar el rato. No digo que sea de lo mejorcito en cuanto a este género, uno puede aspirar a más, por supuesto. Pero mis expectativas se cumplieron bastante bien. La verdad quedé sorprendida en el aspecto adaptativo. Y sí, lo voy a destacar cada vez que pueda (?.
As a film it is quite bearable to watch, ideal to pass the time. I'm not saying it's the best in this genre, one can aspire to more, of course. But my expectations were met quite well. The truth is that I was surprised in the adaptive aspect. And yes, I'm going to highlight it every time I can (?.).
Otro plus que le sumaria es que acá tuvo un final que si bien es abierto, me cerró un interrogante que el libro no me dio. Sé que me lo puedo imaginar, pero a veces necesito que me lo ilustren así no quedan dudas al respecto. Me refiero a algo que pasa hacía el final, sobre un determinado puesto de trabajo.
Another plus that I would add is that here it had an ending that although it is open, it closed a question that the book didn't give me. I know I can imagine it, but sometimes I need to have it illustrated so there are no doubts about it. I am referring to something that happens towards the end, about a certain job.
Después en otras cosas no hubo milagros. En el sentido en que el libro dejó algunos cabos sueltos que la película tampoco abordo. Igual entiendo que no era relevante, es más un deseo de mi parte.
Then in other things there were no miracles. In the sense that the book left some loose ends that the movie didn't address either. I understand that it wasn't relevant, it's more of a wish on my part.
Quizá un punto en contra es que fue muy suave y me hubiera gustado un poquito más de drama. Hay una parte que requería un par de gritos y algún que otro reproche. No se le dio mayor importancia. Pero ya les digo, en líneas generales estuvo muy bien. Esta más que recomendada de mi parte.
Perhaps a point against it is that it was very soft and I would have liked a little more drama. There is a part that required a couple of screams and some reproach. It was not given more importance. But I tell you, in general it was very good. It is more than recommended by me.
