Last Seen Alive (2022), Movie Review

It's been a while since I had seen Gerard Butler's movie and the last movie I saw was ' Angel has fallen' which was released in 2019. Seeing this movie, I was so excited to watch it and to see how Butler had performed there. Even since I fell in love with the work of Butler, he has never disappointed me. His movies have always been thrilling for me with his accent 🙃. When I first saw this movie's trailer I was kind of disappointed because of the story plot. It was cliché because there are many movies with the same story plot as this one, but then you shouldn't judge the book by its cover.

Last Seen Alive is an American action film with a duration of 1hr 38mins. It's short, straight to the point, and with a mystery plot twist. It was directed by Brian Goodman who also joined hands in producing the movie with Gerard Butler, Alan Siegel, and Marc Frydman (the writer of the movie). This movie is not just an action, it is also a combination of mystery and thriller. Now, the movie is all about Will Spnn (Butler) who was taking his wife (Lisa) to her parent's house as they were having issues in their marriage and they needed space (what Lisa demanded). On the way to her parent's house, they had to stop for gas and there was when Lisa went missing.

Little Synopsis Of The Movie

The movie starts with Will taking his wife, Lisa to her parent's house to have some time alone for clarity on their marital issues. Will was trying to convince Lisa not to go away, but nothing convinced her of her decision because her mind was already made up. During this little conversation, Will and his wife, we were meant to understand that there was a case of infidelity from her a while ago which is one of the issues in their marital life.

A few miles to Lisa's parents' house, Will had to refill on gas, and then Lisa went into the gas station to get a bottle of water after which something strange happened. Lisa was nowhere to be found, she disappeared. Will, worried about the safety of his wife immediately called the police to report a missing person thereafter he drove round the gas hoping he would see his wife but no result.

Frustrated, he went to her parent's house which was about five miles away from the gas station. On getting there, her parents told him Lisa had not come home and that was then he knew something had happened to his wife. Will couldn't stay put for the detective on his wife's case to do his job, so he took the matter into his own hands by going rogue and doing everything necessary to find his wife. What happened to Lisa? Did Will succeed in looking for his wife? I wouldn't want to spill the beans any further.

My Opinion About The Movie

As expected, Butler never makes his viewers feel bored with his talent in any movie. One could watch this movie at least once only because of his presence and that was also the main reason I watched it. Even though the storyline of the movie was generic, Butler made it special with his vibe, zeal, and passion. The way he played his role in the movie was intensifying that you could feel his zeal and passion to bring his character to life, which he did in a fantastic way. Butler earned 4 stars from me because of how he played his role.

This movie is a gripping and thrilling action movie that will keep you at the edge of your seat and the movie was like because of Butler. On the other hand, Jaimie Alexander, acting as his wife (Lisa) was a turn-off for me. She didn't blend with her character well and she was forcing herself to bring her character to life. This is not obvious even though there is no chemistry actually but Butler and her, Butler covered up her lapses. She was a terrible actor for me and I feel that probably they would have used someone else. For her acting, I will rate her 2 stars.

The setting of the movie was okay, the characterization fantastic except for Jamie, and the storyline was generic but well arranged and well played out with excellent zeal. Though this movie earned only a 20% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, don't follow the public rating and miss out on something intense and thrilling. Lastly, if you are a lover of Gerard Butler's movies, don't skip this movie at all even though the storyline has been told a lot of times but this particular one has its unique spark and signature that singles it out from other movies like it.

My Recommendation and Ratings

Rating this movie, I will give it 4 stars, all other actor performances apart from Jamie, I will give them all 3 stars while 4 stars go to Gerard Butler. I would recommend this movie to fans of Gerard Butler's movies, action /thriller lovers, and also young adults.

Yes a Gerard Butler movie I can see. And you said you didn’t like Jamie’s performance? Crazy. I’ve liked Jamie ever since she starred in Blindspot but I guess actors have bad movies sometimes.

I guess I’ll be seeing this movie soon. Great review!
