If you are a lover of thrillers and action, you should be familiar with the Jack Reacher film adaptation and book series which was written by Lee Child. I have not read the book series before but a friend I had talked about this book series to me before and I promised him to read them someday. I think "the someday" is here now because after watching the series adaptation, I want to start reading the book series and I can't wait to start. Actually, I am excited to start.
According to how my friend described the Jack Reacher character to me from the book series, it seems that the TV show's Jack Reacher is exactly the same with books. Not just the characters of the TV series are true to the books, I think everything about the TV show was true according to the books. Finally, there is a book series that was adapted according to the story of the book. We don't see that everyday in Hollywood, it doesn't happen, it never happens, because they always want to show how good their scriptwriters are in an annoying way. Not all hope is lost for Hollywood though, if the Reacher show could happen.
'Reacher' is a TV show developed by Nick Santora and streamed by Amazon Prime Video. It was adapted From Jack Reacher book series that was written by Child Lee. This season was adapted from the first book in the Jack Reacher book series titled Killing floor which was published in 1997. This TV show revolves around the story of a former military policeman with impressive military records /achievements who is a wanderer, always traveling from one town to another. Reacher starred Alan Ritchson, Malcolm Goodwin, Willa Fitzgerald, Hugh Thompson, Chris Webster, Bruce McGill, Willie C. Carpenter, Maria Sten and Kristin Kreuk.
Brief Summary Of The Plot.
At midnight, in Margrave town, a man was beaten brutally and killed outside of the town in Georgia. The next morning, Jack Reacher wanders into the town in a bus. Going to explore the town, he walks into a diner to eat the best pie in the town. While his order of the pie came, some of the town's policemen stormed into the diner and arrested him for murder. Without force, he surrenders to them and they take him to their station to lock him up in the cell.
There Reacher met detective Finlay and a woman named Roscoe. Finlay questions him about the murder but in the end Finlay realized he was not their killer. Later, it was discovered on the victim's body a phone that belonged to one of the town's people, Paul Hubble, a banker. Finlay and Roscoe went to question in his house when falsely confessed to killing their victim. So he was arrested and taken to the station. Together with Reacher they were locked up in a general population prison. There Reacher fought for their lives because some of the prisoners wanted to kill them.
However, the following day they were both released and Reacher goes to the station with Roscoe. As they got to the station, another murder had occurred. They went to the morgue to discuss the murder with Finlay when Reacher discovers that the first victim was his older brother, Joe. Who killed Reacher's brother? Will Reacher be sticking around?
My Review And Rating.
I absolutely love this series of Jack Reacher's adaptations. Regardless of the fact that I haven't read the book, I am totally impressed with the TV show. I enjoyed this show, it was entertaining, full of unexpected humor, fully packed with intense action scenes, filled with some gory scenes, and the stunts were hardcore. Let's not forget about the perfect casting, the perfect directorial style, the perfect script and dialogues. This TV series is the first to be produced according to the book series in Hollywood and it is the first time Hollywood did everything right.
When I watched Tom Cruise's Jack Reacher adaptation, I didn't enjoy it at all. It didn't feel like Jack Reacher to me because how can a 5.9ft man portray the character of a serious 6.5ft monster of a man. I don't get it. Also, why is it that Tom Cruise has to receive lots of beatings before he conquers his foes? But this TV series absolutely portrayed Jack Reacher's characters like the way my friend described him to me.
The story of this series was written faithfully and excellently. I was actually surprised considering the fact that good stories in a film are always ruined by the scriptwriters. The story was built strongly with fantastic characters that their roles weren't written thinly. As you watch the series from the first episode you will notice that there are no potholes, unnecessary details and easy flow.
The directors of each episode did an amazing job with this series. I applaud them all. They were able to synchronize each episode to come together like a. Single person directed the whole series. As I was watching the series, there was an easy flow in between the episodes which birthed an interesting crime story that reminded me of the good old-fashioned entertainment.
The Cast of this show were exceptional with their performances. I enjoyed all the roles, especially Alan Ritchson who perfectly acted in the Jack Reacher role. He is very good and I love the way he portrayed the character. He didn't just look like Jack Reacher from the book series but also he behaved like him. I hope he gets recognized for his work in this show. Other supporting characters were all fantastic. I don't want to talk about them because it will just make this post lengthy. If you watch the series, you would know what I am talking about.
The cinematography was well done. The visuals captured clearly and the soundtrack is excellent as it blended well with the atmosphere of the storyline. The location was beautiful. Good camera work especially during the action scenes and fighting scenes. The action and fighting scenes are intense, brutal, and good. Most of these days shows are not usually watchable, but this one is an interesting crime story with a fantastic main character, intense plot, brutal action and a good cast.
Rating this show, I will give it 9 out 10 stars. That is how good it was for me. I would in a heartbeat recommend this series to lovers of thrillers, action and crime and to fans of Jack Reacher book series. So if you haven't seen it yet, go now and watch it, you won't be disappointed.
