Marvel films don't pique my interest anymore except for some few Marvel characters that are my favorites. I have been so reluctant to watch Secret Invasion following all how Marvel Studios have disappointed me recently but then I couldn't stay away from Nick Fury. So last week I decided to see Nick Fury's Secret Invasion miniseries. I was curious and I want to see what Nick Fury has to offer in this series.

'Secret Invasion miniseries' is a sci-fi and superhero TV show that was created by Kyle Bradstreet which was based on a Marvel comic story. It is the ninth TV series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and it was produced alongside Disney+.

The story of the series is centered around Nick Fury, his life and a group of shapeshifting aliens called Skrulls whose planet was destroyed thirty decades ago. Now they want to conquer Earth, make it their own and make the human race go into extinction. The miniseries starred Samuel L. Jackson, Emilia Clarke, Ben Mendelsohn, Don Cheadle, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Killian Scott, Olivia Coleman, Charlayne Woodard, Samuel Adewunmi, Dermot Mulroney, and Martin Freeman.

In this action-packed miniseries, the story is set basically in Russia, Moscow. We were introduced to Talos, a skrull who wants to get his hands on agent Everett K. Ross, who killed a CIA agent for exposing the secret plan to invade planet earth of some Rebel Skrulls group led by Gravik. This plan was to first incite a war between Russia and the United States so as to facilitate their takeover because they couldn't find a new planet to make their home.

Maria Hill comes to assist Ross but discovers that Ross is a Skrull and not the real Ross she knew. Immediately she contacts Nick Fury, who since the 'The Blip' has been working in space. Nick Fury answers Maria's call and returns to earth only for him to learn that Talos has been exiled from the Skrull council and replaced by Gravik. since the Blip. Now, Fury and Talos team up together to stop the Skrull rebels' plans, which involves bomb attacks on innocent Russian citizens to incite World War III.

Afterwards, we were taken back to 1997 to see how the Skrulls came to planet earth in seeking refuge because they believed in Nick Fury's promise. Gravik being impatient, angry, frustrated began to delve into making himself and his race super Skrulls with DNA experimentations. Amidst this chaos, we unexpectedly learned about Nick Fury's wife, Varra who is a Skrull who reached out to an unknown person causing her to betray Nick Fury. Everyone has turned against Nick Fury. Will he survive this war that Gravik has waged on him and the human race?

My Review And Rating.

My expectations for this miniseries were not met. Though it is on an average scale for me and I wasn't impressed with it. Though I appreciate we were given the chance to get to know Nick Fury to the core, including his very personal life. Ever since Nick Fury's character has been introduced into the MCU, I have been curious as to why he is untouchable, how he has so much power to command some world leaders and what is so special about him. I appreciate that all my questions were answered in this miniseries. I will give the writers kudos on that. They did well in that aspect.

Regarding the plot of this miniseries, I will say, it was not written well and there were alot of questionable scenes that were not supposed to be in this miniseries. The plot seems inferior to me. For example, why will a Skrull be given the power of all the members of the Avengers? Was it necessary? So now anyone can have access to all their powers through some DNA serum Nick Fury created. I was disappointed and pissed with that aspect. For me I see a super villain brewing there but I hope Marvel don't act on it.

The Cast were okay and the addition of new faces to the cast were all amazing especially, Emily Clarke (Gi'ah) and Kingsley Ben-Adir (Gravik). They were both amazing and their characters were written with substantial background stories to enable the viewers to connect with them easily but still it was a waste of talent to include them both. Gravik was a terrible villain and Emily was a colossal waste. Nick Fury's character on the other hand, I noticed that his character has been watered down, he was not the Nick Fury I knew. His character was written and it was like I was watching a shell of Nick Fury's character.

The cinematography was okay, the camera work was on an average scale for me because it was not impressive. The AI introduction was a terrible idea and it wasn't even done well. The budget was not well spent. It had a high budget but came out looking like a low budget miniseries. The music was decent, the CGI design of the alien was good.

Is this miniseries binge-worthy? From my perspective, it is a no and I would recommend you watch it because you will be disappointed. On the other, if you feel you have time, you can still watch. Rating this miniseries, I will give it 5 out of 10 stars.

Have you seen this miniseries? How was your experience?.

Secret Invasion in my opinion is what I expected to leave behind everything about the MCU; there is nothing interesting and I regret having seen all the episodes because the little desire to see something else from Marvel Studios, I wanted to spend them with the second season of Loki, which I have not yet seen an episode and I do not know when I will.

This series should have been developed as a better planned event and not something who knows when they will redevelop it. This is the most boring series I've seen of spies, secrecy and tension, the resolution is very bad and unintelligible, one of the worst of the year for Marvel.

I ended up watching it almost out of obligation. A disappointment for me. One of the few Marvel series I wanted to watch and with the result what they did was scare me away. 😆

I agree in many aspects with you, I think it was a waste of talent, the script was very poor, the idea of super skrull disappointing, I also reviewed it and titled it as the fan service that failed, things that is not usually so.
