Okay! I will just go straight forward and state the obvious. The "Hijack" TV show gave me the most intense anxiety I've experienced in a long time while watching a film. I couldn't take a break or stop watching because I want to know how it all ends. For that, I am glad I waited until all the episodes were streamed because the suspense of waiting would kill me.

'Hijack' is a suspenseful thriller that the story is told in 7 episodes. It was created by George Kay and Jim Field Smith which premiered on Apple TV +. It revolves around the hijacking of a plane that boards from Dubai to London. It stars Idris Elba, Neil Maskell, Max Beesley, Ben Miles, Aimée Kelly, Mohamed Elsandel and Kaisa Hammarlund.

Brief Summary.

The show starts with a corporate business negotiator Sam Nelson who boards a plane, Kingdom Airlines flight KA29 from Dubai to London, with the intention of patching things up with his estranged wife. On board, he replied to his estranged wife's message warning him not to board the plane, but Sam replies with 'It's too late'. Soon the plane takes off,a teenage passenger named Naomi went to the bathroom and found a bullet there. Panicking, she takes the bullet to show her two friends but they were not sure of what Naomi discovered in the bathroom. Finally, she shows another passenger named Marcus who was nice to her when they boarded the plane the bullet she found.

Marcus collects the bullet from Naomi and promises to go show the cabin crew what was discovered. However, Marcus was a covert member of a hijacking crew that plans to hijack the plane hours after. Instead of going to report the discovery to the cabin crew, Marcus took the bullet to their crew leader named Stuart and urged him to speed up the hijack before they were discovered. Stuart then decided to start the hijack immediately after Marcus' report. Armed with Glock 19 pistols concealed within green toiletry bags, several of the hijackers now took over the plane and held all the passengers at gunpoint.

On the other hand, earlier on, an airport screener named Neela also played a role in the success of the hijacking by allowing the guns on board because of the death threats she received about her family. Hijacking of a plane isn't successful until the cockpit is breached. So the Hijackers took control of the cockpit by using Collette, a flight attendant who we discovered was having an affair with Captain Robin Allen. Meanwhile, before the Wi-Fi connection is disabled, Sam manages to send a distress message to his estranged wife, who also tells her boyfriend, DI Daniel O'Farrell, an officer working for the Metropolitan Police to look into it. Will the hijacking plan be successful? Will Sam get to see his family again?

My Review And Rating.

The directors of this series did a fantastic job with the directorial style, scene arrangements, episodes duration, and the cinematography. The first episode of this show is arranged in an interesting way which is engaging, and intriguing. The introduction of the characters were done perfectly well, the flow of the storyline started well and the setting aligned with the mood and tone of the plot of the show.

The first episode didn't just concentrate on the characters on the play, it also introduced us to the characters on ground that form the background stories of some characters on the plane and from there you would notice two storylines intertwined together. I give the directors an applaud for a job well done.

The Cast of this series are also incredible with their performances. Each and every character drew some emotions from me. All their behavior did seem forced, it all came natural to them which shows their devotions to their roles. Idris Elba was the star of the show, he was amazing and if someone told me that I would one day Idris playing a negotiator role, I would laugh at the person because it's not his style. Regardless, Idris gave us his best shot with his role.

There are some things in this that are technically incorrect. The aviation, tech, firearms, policing and politics aspects of this show were portrayed wrongly. This might piss some people off but if you actually put all these flaws aside, see the show as a fictional work, you would enjoy it. However, in my opinion, I think these should have been corrected and portrayed in the right way to at least bring honor to those who work in the aviation department, tech and policing.

The final episode wasn't satisfying to me because I felt that some loose ends were not closed and there were some spaces left blank. The cinematography work of this show is amazing and engaging. The camera work was amazing and neatly done. I enjoyed this because of the suspense. Trying to figure out how things are going to end and how the hijacks will be dealt with. It was entertaining, made me tense and on the edge of my seat all through.

Rating this show, I will give 8 out of 10 stars. I enjoyed it, and my experience with it was good but I wasn't impressed with the ending. I will recommend it to my fellow thriller and crime lovers. If you have anxiety problems, I suggest you don't watch this series. Have you seen Hijack? What are thoughts?

I love your review, it still keeps you wanting to know. Idris Alba’s movies are always a go-to for me. I dislike series that are incomplete because when I start I am hooked and sometimes keep them far away from me when I need to get work done because I will watch till the end and even keep a vigil 😅 I know I need help.

Idris Elba did not disappoint. He keeps getting better with every role he plays. Every scene kept me on the edge of my seat. It's a great action thriller and I'm looking forward to season two. A well written review! 💕!PIMP

I haven't seen it but just knowing that it's a police thriller suspense thriller makes me want to see it. It's unfortunate that the producers didn't have time to iron out those logistical details as you point out. When a movie is good, and the filmmakers know it can grab the audience, it should not let any detail slip through the cracks, no matter how minor.
