'The Adam Project' is an American action-comedy movie that was released on March 11, 2022, and distributed by Netflix. It was directed by Shawn Levy and it stars Ryan Reynolds, Walker Scobell, Mark Ruffalo, Zoe Saldana, Jennifer Garner, and a few others. This movie portrays how love can transcend through time with time travel and how messing with the time line can disrupt the natural order.

Little Synopsis

The movie began with Adam (Ryan Reynolds), a fighter pilot, stealing his time jet after he had been shot trying to escape to 2018 on a rescue mission through time travel, but instead, his time jet took him to 2022 where he meets his 12-year-old younger self who had just lost his father a year ago and struggling with the pain of loss and grief. So Adam told his younger self the reason why he was in his time and asked his younger self to help him fix his time jet that was damaged during his escape from 2050.

Adam's younger self got to know about the rescue mission his older had embarked on which was to save his wife who was supposedly assassinated and left stranded in the past. Unknown to Adam, he was being followed by Maya Soriano, the leader of his world. Maya attacked Adam but Laura, his supposedly assassinated wife, comes to their rescue.

Laura revealed that Maya was the first person to go back in time to change things for her selfish interests. Then Laura urged Adam to go back to 2018 and set things right by destroying the time travel machine created by Adam's father Louis (Mark Ruffalo). Maya attacked again after locating where they were, but then Laura sacrificed herself so that Adam and his younger self could get away and make it to 2018 successfully. Now the question is, did Adam and his younger self succeed in destroying the time travel machine? You will have to watch the movie to find out.

My Opinion About The Movie

This movie is a mixture of action and comedy altogether. Some people might think this movie is phony but honestly, it is not for me. The movie didn't only depict the consequences of messing with the timeline but it also depicts how unconditional love can transcend through time. Seeing that Ryan Reynolds was among the star actors I couldn't resist watching it. I love all his movies as they give me joy when I watch them. Ryan played his character well as did his younger self.

I enjoyed watching this movie because everything about the was well organized, the plot, the setting and the visual effects were amazing. The characters all played their roles well except for Chris, Maya's lieutenant who seemed a bit off with his role for me.

The best scene in the movie for me was when Adam's younger self teamed up with his older self to help destroy the time travel machine their father built. I love those scenes, they were funny and at the same time intense and mind gripping!

The most self-reflecting scene was when Adam's younger self confronts his older self about his bitterness which has stood in the way of both of them teaming up with their father to destroy the time travel machine. That scene shows how the power of pain and grief can have big effects on one's life which brings in stagnation.

My favorite character is Ryan Reynolds, but then couldn't resist loving Adam's younger self character. He is so adorable and at the same time fierce, funny, smart, and brave. He is going to grow up to be an amazing actor that I am sure of.

My Recommendation and Ratings

I would recommend this movie to time travel story lovers, action film lovers, and comedy lovers. Also, I recommend this movie for young adults too.

I would rate this movie on a scale of 1-10 giving it 8 on the scale. Everything was amazing and interesting. I enjoyed watching the movie, I had a good laugh and at the end, learned that in every situation we find ourselves in life, we shouldn't let bitterness take root.

I actually fell asleep while watching it but that wasn't the movie's fault... I'd been drinking all day. For the parts of it that I saw I found it really funny. Have you seen the Kraft Mac n Cheese promotional video that they did for this film?

Thank you for this review! Your last sentence surprised me and I hope was just a typo about bitterness. :) If you aren't on our Discord channel, please join our awesome family! https://discord.gg/5XUJ84eQ

I loved the movie too, I loved Reynolds acting too. The character's script I found a bit unbelievable was was the younger version.

That first scene where he was held up by those bullies seemed unrealistic that he would be that bold or unmoved by their threats or their number. I knew who wrote that part anyway.

I don't know much about child psychology anyway but I don't think kids think that way.

All in all I'll give it an 8 too.
