When I saw the trailer of this movie, I thought it wouldn't be worth watching but then I changed my mind and gave it a chance. I must say my low expectations about this movie became high after watching it. The star actor Richard Armitage made me change my mind about the movie. If you are familiar with the "Hobbit" franchise, he starred there as the dwarf king and their leader. If you are not familiar with Hobbit then you will find him in Alice Through the Looking Glass (2016) and Marvel's Captain America (2011).

"The Man From Rome" is a movie that has a combination of different genres like Crime, action, adventure, Religion, and thriller all together. It was directed by Sergio Dow, produced by Enrique Cerezo and it was also adapted from a novel titled "La piel del tambor" written by Arturo Pérez Reverte. It starred Richard Armitage, Amaia Salamanca, Fionnula Flanagan, Paul Guilfoyle, and Franco Nero. It revolves around Father Quart who was sent to Seville, a small city to investigate a series of unusual deaths and how a hacker was able to infiltrate the Vatican archive server.

Right from the heart of Seville, an excellent hacker was able to break into the firewall of the Vatican's internal server and left a suspicious message directly on the computer of the Pope about the unusual deaths that have been occurring in a church due to some people who don't want the church to be demolished. The Pope had to handle the situation by assigning Monsignor Spada to make the situation go away before the next appointment of the next Pope.

Monsignor Spada, summoned their best investigative agent, Father Lorenzo Quart, to go to Seville and investigate the deaths and how the hacker got access to the Vatican server. On the other hand, Monsignor Spada is a priest who nobody knows about his past or history, but he is a man of high ethics and well respected in Vatican City. Father Quart agreed to the mission and he was giving all the help he needed from the Vatican City and the Pope.

When he got to Seville, he met a beautiful aristocrat Macarena Baner, a woman who had just separated from her husband Pencho Gavira. She only has the rights to the land where the church is located and she fights against the church being demolished by her ex-husband with some teams of investors. Macarena, her mother the Duchess, Father Ferro, and architect Gris were helping to restore the church but her ex-husband kept frustrating her efforts. Who is behind the unusual deaths? Will Father Quart get to the root of the problem?

My Review And Rating.

I enjoyed watching this movie it reminds me a lot of the movie "The Man from UNCLE (2015)". If you enjoyed the movie, definitely you will enjoy this one. It was an enjoyable experience for me and it gave me more insight into catholic churches and how they operate.

The movie is also a fantastic mystery movie, with a good and well-written plot. Scene arrangements were incredible and gave room for mystery accompanied with twists that I didn't see coming. The location and setting were amazing and appealing to the eye. It just makes one wonder how many countries you would like to visit.

The actors did a great job performing their roles. Their performance was so natural that it made the movie seem realistic and very relatable. The actors were few but the performance they all put into their roles made the viewers not realize that the characters were not much. Each character had a solid handful of good background stories and a mystery to the personality of the characters.

Let's talk about the Stunt scenes. All the scenes were natural, and nothing was blown out of proportion. Deaths were a little bit bloody. The ending was very satisfying for me because it was resolved in a deserving way.

In conclusion, I will be rating this movie 4 out of 5 stars. It was a thrilling watch for me and I enjoyed it. I will recommend this movie to crime and thriller lovers. It's a decent movie one could watch with the whole family but with a little caution in some scenes because of the children. No strong language, no nudity, and a few bloody scenes. If you have watched it, hurry now and enjoy it.

The mysteries that haunt the churches are true stories that merit investigation. I'm attracted to this kind of movies, they are really interesting.
