“This is not the James Reece that you all know.”
It's been quite a while since I watched an action-thriller series that is terrific, thrilling, fast-paced, entertaining, brutal, and unapologetically satisfying. Nowadays, we just see series that don't even meet the criteria of a real action - thriller genre. Watching 'The Terminal List' was satisfying and it is one of the best action-thrillers I have seen in years. It was worth my time and I must say I do not regret watching this series at all.
First when I saw the poster of the series and discovered that Chris Pratt was the main character, I was a bit skeptical about watching the series not until I read an amazing review about the series here on Hive. I was pumped immediately to see but I was reluctant at the same time because I was thinking how would Chris Pratt fit into the role of a serious and mean character since I am used to his witty/jovial character in 'Guardian Of the Galaxy'. So finally, I decided to watch the whole season last week and I loved it! At the end, I was left with this expression 👇.
'The Terminal List series' is an action thriller that was created by David DiGilio which was adapted from Jack Carr's 2018 book of the same title. It was released on Amazon Prime and it starred Chris Pratt, Constance Wu, Taylor Kitsch, Riley Keough, Arlo Mertz and Jeanne Tripplehor. It revolves around the story of a Navy Seal commander whose entire platoon died during a mission and when he returns home to investigate what went wrong, his wife and daughter are assassinated. Mysteriously. Now he seeks revenge for what was taken from him.
Brief Summary Of The Plot.

James Reece a Navy SEAL Lieutenant Commander and his platoon of 14 SEALs with an informant went for a mission to take down a notorious chemical expert, Dr. Kahani in Syria. Unfortunately, something tragic happens during the mission. They were all ambushed and killed except for James and his friends Boozer who survived the ambush. The NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) brought James in for questioning when he discovered that the record NCIS has of their mission has been altered in different aspects which made him questioned himself what really happened during the mission.

Soon James was cleared medically, so he and Boozer flew back home. James' best friend, a CIA agent and former SEAL, Ben picked him up from the airport. On their way home, James told his best friend everything he discovered and his suspicion about their mission but Ben waves it off. Later, James arrived home to his wife and daughter. Trying to bond back with his family after been absent for while, they noticed that he had lost some of his recent memory before he left for Syria.

However the next day, James finds out that Boozer committed sucide but when he got the crime scene he discovered that Boozer didn't kill himself but he was murder. Afterwards, he started experience painful headaches which unsettle his memories. He goes to a nearby clinic to get checked when two assassins attacked him. He fights them off but fears that his family might be in danger. Immediately he went back only to find his wife and daughter dead. Who killed his family? Why James Reece? Will James get his revenge?
My Review And Rating.
This TV series kept me at the edge of seat with which each episodes I watched, there was suspended left at end and I couldn't just wait around except I moved to the next episode. This series is packed with great suspense, amazing tension, thrilling action scenes, brutal kills and death. Describing this series, I will say it's a perfect allegory of a quote which says; 'Your biggest enemy is never a stranger, it is always the closest person to you'.
"The Terminal List" is a series that about a satisfying dose of revenge and powerful themes explored alongside it. Themes like betrayal, deception, revenge, justice, loss and death. From the show's plot, it is clear that it does not attempt to impose any sort of message on its viewers and does not preach, offend, or attack. It also hooks it's viewers from the beginning till the end (which is amazing satisfying).
The plot was written well, each and every scene was scripted well to maintain tension and suspense throughout. Each character was built well with good solid background. No character was written badly or thinly. The dialogues were thickly written because it contain meaningful things associated with the story of the series, thereby, boredom, and unnecessary diversion was absent throughout the series. The scene arrangements were done perfectly and it was all merged excellently well with action scenes. Also, before I forget, the action scenes were shot with good lights and camera angles.
Let's talk about the cast. The Cast for this series is a perfect fit. Their performances was expectional and impressive. Chris Pratt did a fantastic job with his role in this series and I am surprised he won no award for his role except nominations. I like the way he was able to step into his character (a man out for revenge, mean, brutal, and serious). At first I thought I won't be able to take him seriously but he convinced right from the beginning. The rest of the supporting characters were amazing and they all performed their roles well.
Rating this series, I will give it 4.9 out of 5 stars. I really enjoyed watching this series and I loved it. It was interesting, intriguing and satisfying. I would recommend it to lovers of mystery, action, and thriller film. If you haven't seen this series, I urge you go watch it soon, I bet you will enjoy it and you won't be disappointed.
