Carrots. I think the whole film is about those damn carrots...

A man named Smith (Clive Owen) is waiting at a bus stop, eating a carrot. He sees a pregnant woman trying to avoid a hitman that's following her, Smith, follows them both in a nearby warehouse, and then chaos (no. 1) begins. Smith kills the hitman stabbing and killing him with the carrot, helps the woman delivering her baby, and all at the same time he defends himself by constantly firing on a group of executioners (led by a man named Hertz) whose mission is to kill the pregnant woman and her baby.

Difficult you may say, or superhumanish?... Nothing is difficult for Smith.

Although Hertz (Paul Giamatti) manages to kill the mother of the baby, Smith manages to escape with the baby and looking for a way to protect it from Hertz, he leaves it in the hands of the generous prostitute Donna (Monica Belucci) to watch over it. But Hertz with his henchmen finds them, tortures Donna to give him the baby and of course, the mighty Smith appears... and that means chaos (no.2). Killing everyone, takes Donna and the baby with him to his hideout. untitled.gif

Hertz, though, is not dead. He still pursues Smith, Donna and the baby, discovers Smith's hideout and gets ready to bring mayhem. A horde of henchmen invades the place and chaos (no.3) starts. Needless to say that Smith achieved to escape in an amazing scene where Smith, with baby on him, shoots his way out while climbing down a rope.

This is about the half of the storyplot, but I won't reveal any more. I don't want to spoil it for you.

Let's say that the rest of the film includes steaming sex scenes (with the ever beautiful and sexy Monica Belucci) while shooting, more chaos (remember I stopped counting at number 3, but there are much more to see), lots of blood, political and social comments woven with the plot of the movie, and of course, many, many carrots.

The studio have characterized this film as action. In my opinion is a parody of any action films we have seen in the past in a most surrealistic way. Smith can bring in our minds all the heroes, but in more excessive way. Hertz, the hitman, who answers the phonecall of his wife, while killing someone, because what the heck even hitmen have a normal life. Even the bloodbath that happens in front of our eyes, instead of disgust or fear, brings us a smile in our faces, thinking that this is freakishly extravaggant but hilarious.

This is a flim that always brings the smile in my face. I love it for all its extravagant scenes. I love it for the music. I love it for the actors (Clive Owen, if you see this, I ❤️ you). If I feel down, I watch it. It's my medicine. And when I watch it, I always have a carrot to eat. untitled.gif

Have you watched it? Tell me your opinion...
