Richard Williams a determined father of five daughters two of who were biologically his and three stepdaughters from his wife Brandy decided to write the story of his two daughters Venus and Serena, into history decided to train them on tennis courts in Compton, California, by contracting the best coach Rick Macci who was impressed by the girls playing and relocated the whole family to Florida to train at his facility. Together, the Williams family defies seemingly insurmountable odds and the prevailing expectations laid before them.

Although faced with many challenges starting from being beaten up by some young boys gang in his hometown and his neighbour always making a mockery of him and always calling cops on them, he never stops believing in the dream for his two young daughters and he takes time to shape the girls to a better and confident tennis player at a young age.

At the age of fifteen, Venus was known in the whole continent as a good player and got many contracts from different tennis companies but Richard was afraid of letting her take such steps because she was still a child and wanted her to enjoy her childhood.

With the help of Coach Rick and Brandy, Richard unwillingly allowed Venus to play the upcoming Bank of the West Classic in Oakland, California. Got many awards at that age which gave her access to play against the best tennis player of all time Vicario.

Venus takes the leading at the first half but after the break, Vicario goes into the bathroom dejected and stays above the extended time, comes out fully prepared, and recovers her win the second set and the match.

Richard and Brand meet Venus in the locker room crying for the loss but she was comforted, telling her to be proud of herself. The family leaves the stadium, only to meet a large crowd of young supporters waiting to cheer Venus on. Rick tells Richard that several major shoe companies are anxious to meet with Venus.

Nine months later, at the age of 15 Venus signs a contract with Reebok for 12 million dollars while Serena joins Venus as a professional two years later, becoming a 23-time Grand Slam champion in tennis history, just as her father had predicted.

This movie portrays family love and unity, although they were faced with so many challenges that would have stooped them from dreaming but the family kept cheering up them to keep moving and that love from family helped Venus and Serena Williams sail through.

This movie also reveals the need for parents to help their kids achieve their dream and not children helping their parents fulfill the dreams they could not achieve at a young age. Richard and Brandy gave the kids what they needed to be the best they wanted to be in their dream career and that is the best gift any parents can give to their children.

One of the things that got me cracking up is his preference of shorts, Richard Williams was always seen with a short too short for him and that kinda put humor in the story.
