Lakshmi

Review by @evegrace · 1854d · of Lakshmi

Have you ever been in a situation where you didn't feel like watching a particular movie because you felt the movie won't be interfering but after watching the movie, you just couldn't see yourself deleting the movie out of your phone and would still enjoy watching the movie over and over again when you are less busy and feel like watching a movie? I don't know if someone understands what I am saying but I am in that situation right now?

A friend of mine sent me this movie and for some reason, I kept the movie on my phone refusing to delete it because I felt it wouldn't be interesting, I decided to watch all the other movies on my phone and not watch that. One day, I was less busy and felt like watching a movie but didn't have any movie on my phone except this movie, so I decided to try my luck.

At first, I wasn't into the movie and just decided to scroll through the movie from the beginning to the end but the beginning of the movie got me wanting to concentrate and watch every part of this movie.

The suspense, act, and energy of this beautiful ten-year-old girl called Lakshmi got me smiling from the beginning of the movie to the end. She is a great actress and carries herself with so much confidence and grace kept wondering how she was able to act out her script with so much energy and stamina.

Lakshmi is a 2018 Indian movie, released in the year 2018, 24th August, directed by A.L.Vijay. The four main actors are Ditya Bhande (Lakshmi), Prabhu Deva (Vijay Krishna), Aishwarya Rajesh (Nandhini Nandini), Salman Yusuff Khan (Yusuf Khan).

ABOUT THE MOVIE Indeed when they say "Blood is thicker than water". This movie gives a perfect example of that adage. Although Lakshmi was far away from her father right from birth and knew nothing about her father, yet she carries the same energy when it came to things she loved and had a passion for doing which was Dancing.

Lakshmi's dreams and passion are in dancing and dances everywhere and every time, on the other hand, she couldn't dance because her mother is against her dancing but she secretly dances without letting her mom know about it.

She started nursing the dream of winning a national level dance competition called "Pride of Life India Jr. tittle". When she came across the announcement on the television, she was scared to speak up and participate as her mother despises dancing.

Her love for dancing drove her into a cafe where she started dancing to the music playing in the cafe without caring if the owner would get angry or push her out. There she meets the cafe owner Krishna who permits her to always come to his cafe to dance without disturbing her.

Her teachers complain about her influence on other students and her poor performance in class and how she dances on the street with the street dancers on her back from school to the principal who calls her in, instead of punishing her, she begs Lakshmi to teach her the new dancing moves which Lakshmi promises to teach her and this made both best friends in crime.

On her way back from school, she overheard a passenger talking about the dancing academy, and instead of getting down at her bus station, she gets down at the academy bus station but was not permitted entry until her parents come with her for the registration.

Full of wisdom, Lakshmi decided to plead with the cafe owner Krishna to pretend as her father and help her get registered. Krishna decided to help the little girl as he sees her passion for dancing and that reminds him of himself when he was in college before his accident. The registration fee was high but Lakshmi assures and promises him that if she wins, she would return his money.

She pleaded with her principal who always helped her sneak out of school very early before the closing time to attend her dancing class with the promise that she would come back to teach her new dancing moves and on her first day in the dancing academy, she showed others who she was and the stuff she was made of.

There she met Arnold (Akshat Singh) and Arjun (Jeet Das) both young boys who took a liking to her from the first day began fighting each other just so they could be noticed by Lakshmi but she was there for a reason and never got distracted by them.

Arjun is also a good dancer and one of the dance master sons (Sofia). Lakshmi becomes of the dancers who will be representing the Academy but on the day of selection, sha cold feet due to stage fright and fails to perform to the expectations of her team members and her dance master which lead to the team disqualification and Miss Sofia out of anger asking her to leave and never return.

Krishna out of worry about Lakshmi decides to go see her only to see her in tears, after finding of what happened, he comes to the selection area and pleads to the judges and Miss Sofia to give her another chance.

When people saw him, they realized who he was and began asking questions to know if Lakshmi is his child. There he met his one-time dance rivalry, who was one of the selection chiefs, Yusuf Khan who proposed a deal to him that the team can only come on board the competition if Krishna accepts to be the coach with Miss Sofia.

Krishna had to accept the offer just so Lakshmi's dreams could come through but they had to travel out of their state to fully participate in the competition and there, the problem comes in. Lakshmi has to travel with the team without letting her mother who despises dancing know about it.

There the principal of her school is involved who had to call her mother telling her that the school will be going on competition and Lakshmi is among those chosen to represent the school. Lakshmi's mother could not go with her daughter because her job would not permit her so she accepted to let Lakshmi go with the deal that Lakshmi would be allowed to talk to her whenever she calls to speak to her daughter through the principal.

It was rumored that Krishna was a dancer who had once participated in Pride of India in 2005 but could not make it up to the finals due to an accident that led him to a coma, the accident occurred on that same day of the finals which led to Yusuf Khan winning and this is one of the reasons Yusuf Khan had asked Krishna to be the coach of the team because back then, he was always jealous of Krishna because of his fame and felt that he could get the chance to beat Krishna now and be worthy of the prize he got in the Pride of India 2005 competition.

The competition was going smoothly with Krishna being their coach and Yusuf Khan being the coach of the other kid's team until the kids in the Yusuf team decided to scatter pins on the stage in one of the finals before Lakshmi's team came on stage.

This pin caused a lot of pain to the team but the kids never stopped dancing, they struggled bearing the pains until they completed their dance and after dancing, they brushed out the pins before giving access to the other team to get on the stage and perform their dance.

Nandhini Nandini realized that she had been tricked by Lakshmi and her principal when she saw her daughter on the stage, so she went to confront the principal who finally told her the truth. Out of anger, she traveled down to the place the competition was holding and dragged out Lakshmi from the stage. In an attempt to take her daughter out of that place, Krishna and Nandhini Nandini paths crossed.

Lakshmi begged her mother to let her perform the last finals but her mother refused to listen to her, in an attempt to get out of her mother's hold, she was hit by a speeding vehicle carrying gas cylinders. She was rushed to the hospital by her parents but unfortunately, she lost her hearing ability making her unable to perform in the last finals.

Lakshmi pleads and refuses to back down and on that fateful day, to the amazement of all, she appears on the stage performing her dancing moves but with the help of Krishna.

The security aids try to stop Krishna from trying to mimic the dancing steps for Lakshmi since she could not hear the music, after they succeeded, Krishna was surprised to still see Lakshmi dancing only to realize that Yusuf has taken up his place and was counting the beats for her so she could continue dancing.

The kids from his team saw this and also assisted the kids in the Krishna team to hold back the security aids trying to stop Yusuf and Krishna from assisting Lakshmi in her dance.

At the end of the finals, Lakshmi won the "Pride of Life India Jr title against all odds and it was also known that Krishna is the husband to Nandhini Nandini and father to Lakshmi, and both couples separated as a result of Krishna's dedication to dancing and that is one of the reasons Lakshmi's mother despite dancing and never wanted to see her daughter dance because it reminds her of her husband.
