Hola a todos amigos de la comunidad amante del séptimo arte… / Hello to all friends of the community lover of the seventh art...
How are you doing? I hope very well, today I wanted to talk about remakes in the cinema, movies that are re-released many years later either because it was a good movie and the idea is that it will cause the same impact on viewers or because of someone with a lot of money like the idea of remaking an old movie, but with actors and current theme. We have many examples of remakes but many times we are very disappointed because they do not have the same spark and do not cause the same emotion that the original installments caused in their time. A clear example of this is 2001's Planet of the Apes, a movie that wanted to convey the same idea that is continued in the movies of the 60s and 70s but failed in its attempt.
But not necessarily all remakes are bad, since in some cases they can surpass the original film, and this was the case of Aladdin of 2019, which was a remake of the classic Disney film of 1992 but with the big difference that this remake would not be in a cartoon, but it is an adaptation in the real image, which caused more impact as I had always wondered how the genie would look in the real image. And although in this remake there are some differences from the original movie in terms of story or events, everything else is the same as it happens in the original movie.
The first thing that stands out about the 2019 Aladdin is the cast, since for obvious reasons it was not possible to bring the original cast, the genius of the 92 Aladdin movie was the late actor Robin Williams, and the rest of the original cast that were the voices of the characters of the cartoon did not match the characters of Aladdin, since they had to be from the Middle East for the story to be accepted or rather match.
That is why for this 2019 remake a more Concorde cast was brought in such as Mena Massoud an actor of Egyptian origin who played the young Aladdin, Naomi Scott of Indian origin as Princess Jasmine, and Will Smith as the Genie although not of oriental origin does match very well for the character, Marwan Censara of Tunisian origin as Jafar and finally Navid Negahban of Iranian origin as the Sultan, although the only participant from the original cast is Frank Welker, who plays the voice of the princess's tiger, the Aladdin and the Cave of Wonders mode, who also plays that same role in the original film.
The two changes that were made from the original story and that in my opinion were quite interesting and that gave a lot of life to the plot were:
Who tells the story: At the beginning of the original 92 movies, the story of Aladdin is told by a merchant, but in the 2019 movie it is told by the genie himself to his children while he sails in a boat around the world, this gives a more personal touch to the story and you see the emotions of the genie throughout the story, it also makes the story seem more real and not a simple fantasy tale.

Jafar's Transformation: In the original film Jafar in one of his wishes transforms into a big snake that almost kills Aladdin and all the other characters, but in the 2019 remake this does not happen, and although it would have been amazing to see this transformation in Live action, I think it adapts very well since the story is not so exaggerated.

Another point that I love about the remake is the Soundtrack, it is extremely beautiful to hear again in voices of well-known artists, the same songs that as a child I sang at the top of my lungs. For example, I remember singing A Whole New World in the English and Spanish version, but hearing it in the remake in the voice of Zyan Malik and the other arrangements that give it an oriental touch make it sound much better than what the original tape showed. Also, the version of Friend like me by Will Smith is another memorable song that sounds great in the remake.

When it was announced that Disney was going to create a remake of Aladdin I thought it would have somewhat forced special effects like the other remakes that Disney has released, but when it comes to special effects, they did it very well, the look of the genie when they use special effects is amazing, the same for the tiger or when Jafar uses his powers. Even before watching the remake, I decided to watch the original film to see some differences in both stories, and I could also see that the 92 films have aged quite well, which is something that rarely happens with classic films.
But seeing first the original film and then the remake, I could appreciate much more the acting of all the characters, which was very good and attached to the original story, for example, the sense of justice and loyalty of Aladdin, the same for the princess, the ambition of Jafar and the anger that gives the parrot haha, also the genie who is just as funny and extroverted, and how to forget the sultan the father of jamás that in a few words is a puppet of Jafar. But all the actors who acted in the remake did it very well and were very close to the original film, which made me and my family like this version very much.
And speaking of the comedy, well this remake has a lot more comedy scenes that are very good and funny, and when I am sometimes working or eating I remember these scenes, like for example the one with the jelly, when Aladdin introduces himself to the princess and has a mental breakdown and gets confused. Also, when the genie is released and gives Aladdin and Abu a scare is also extremely funny, as well as the dancing and the genie's songs, they were quite spontaneous and original.

In conclusion, the remake of Aladdin had many things that made it quite good and fun and that did not disappoint those who enjoyed the original film, the actors and characters who played were quite amazing and how they gave it a modern touch attracted a lot of audiences, so much so that it became a very, very profitable film, grossing over $1 billion.
But now it's your turn, comment on what you liked the most about this movie, or if you didn't like it why do you think so? thank you very much for reading and for having reached the end, see you next time :D
